Re: New 5E races

The Monster was evil because Frankenstein was a jackass who didn't like the way he looked - the hubris of not only creating life, but refusing to acknowledge this carries major responsibility. "We thought because we had power, we had wisdom." "[They] were so preoccupied with whether ...

Re: What would you want in an official 5e Ravenloft setting?

Turns out it was Attack on Titan that triggered the memory, though I would've swore it was more than that I just spent 5 minutes trying to think about Levi's voice in Attack on Titan and trying to recall if I recognized it as Mercer. Only to remember I'm only watching the subtitled version and have...

Re: What would you want in an official 5e Ravenloft setting?

I'm going to regret this, but the anticipation of laughter, even a groan, is too great... Pirate elf Strahd? I suspect its this one: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/forgottenrealms/images/9/9d/Strahd-3e.jpg ...I am literally at a loss here. Why the pointed ears? Edit: Let me rephrase that, since ...

Re: Holy Symbol of the Ravenkind and Icon of Ravenloft versi

RE First Vampyr: 1 Strahd is wrong or lying. He's evil. Why wouldn't he lie? 2 Strahd means First Vampyr as in first among the undead, the most powerful, the prince (first) of vampires. 3 There were no true vampires in what became Barovia before Strahd, and the creatures that the ancient paladin de...

Re: Combining weaponry

Would it be at all possible to create a combination of the sword cane and the parthian rapier? A parthian sword cane, if you will. I do recall the hilt of a parthian rapier needs to be modified to incorporate the gun's mechanism and the trigger. Would it be possible to alter these so they could fit...

Re: The Red Death's Renegades

Is it my imagination or was there something about Imhotep trying to fix this whole mess he's responsible for after breaking free from the Red Death that turned him undead?

Re: Vampyres

I was going to say that while not explicitly listed as a deity for vampyres, Kanchelsis is a canonical deity of vampires and can have priests, and from what I remember about vampyres, his domain would and could cover them as well.

Re: Alignment alternatives

So, I'm going to spoiler this first bit because I think I'm about to ramble on and wax philosophical etc. This first bit is just about the whole alignment thing in more general terms. Specifics about how Ravenloft and alignment tie together below the spoiler. I legitimately think the number one prob...

Re: seers, mediums, mistwalkers: non-Vistani

Psionicists make really fun psychic fortunetellers with the right disciplines and sciences. Legends tell of a secret place, lost to all but those who need it most, where a mysterious old ascetic can use his strange powers to see things even many great mages and priests cannot. Some say he is a god ...

Re: Playable races not in the PHB

I agree that ravenkin ought to be able to pass as huge ravens. Their feet can manipulate like hands, but the illustrations don't make the feet look so unnatural that a glance would reveal the difference. Don't cast spells in front of NPCs, use weapons, or speak... I think wizards' familiars in many...

Re: Goblinoids in the Mists

Well, of course all depends on the domain; Orcs in My Core come from Tepest, Goblinoids from there and Forlorn; as for reaction, again it depends; In Darkon and in Zeindost (Qtr 23 ) fot example people are way more open minded. That's why I specified canon domains, because obviously any domain can ...

Re: Goblinoids in the Mists

This is a thread for discussion of goblins, norkers, hobgoblins, goblyns, calibans, and other orc/goblin type humanoids in the Demiplane of Dread. I'll kick off with some questions. Which ones do you include, if any? In which domains do you place them? Would any of those be allowed as playable race...

Re: the dark library

Actually, an entrapping library would be perfect as part of the curse of Blind Paul and his Library of the Damned (see QtR 25 p. 84), as this would regularly deprive Paul of people to read to him while also giving the domain a lot more versatility at the same time. The library actively working agai...

Re: I had VRG to the Mists Printed on Demand

Second, I love the "You can't have it, but here it is." It's slightly more complicated than that... I ordered an earlier book and it arrived after two weeks. I ordered this and two other books; when they hadn't arrived six weeks after the shipping notice, I emailed. Which caused them to l...
