Beauty and the Beast as a Domain

With the live-action movie coming up soon, I've been thinking some about the viability of using the region and plot of the Disney version of 'Beauty and the Beast' as a Ravenloft domain. Here are some of my thoughts; curious what others think or might come up with. The domain itself slots very nicel...

Re: Curse of Strahd ENnie award nominations

Curse of Strahd ended up winning the Gold for Best Adventure, the Gold for Best Cover Art, and the Silver for Product of the Year (behind Pelgrane Press's Dracula Dossier Director's Handbook).

Nicely done!

Re: The War in the Core

This is a fascinating discussion which I will almost certainly strip-mine for ideas. With that said, my own scenario for an all out War-in-the-Core begins with two somewhat different events: 1. Drakov, growing bored with waiting for his allies to make their political moves, orders his armies to marc...

Re: Curse of Strahd: Opinions?

I picked up Curse of Strahd, though I haven't read through it with any great detail, given that I'm more focused on running the Season 4 Adventurers League modules set in Barovia. (For the benefit of Guardian of Twilight -- yes, previous seasons of AL are all still legal as of this writing. My own F...

Re: [2e&5e] Angels that are not acting IMO angelic

Very true -- another thing I like about the setting is that good people can end up doing 'bad' things, either through ignorance, laziness, or simple malice. It's how characters respond to those actions that illuminates their moral character (and not coincidentally, determines how many Powers Checks ...

Re: [2e&5e] Angels that are not acting IMO angelic

It's funny -- when I suggested the 'killing those enslaved to evil is a mercy' trope as a solution for Alhoon's angelic moral question, I'd forgotten about the sidebar in Gazetteer III which suggests exactly the opposite -- that a character who kills an Obedient in Dementlieu knowing that the NPC is...

Re: [2e&5e] Angels that are not acting IMO angelic

Note that I speak from an "Angel is always perfect" point of view. This seems to me to be a very difficult path to travel in Ravenloft, as the Dark Powers seem to revel in revealing the flaws in what others consider 'perfect'. A thoughtful angel would likely end up questioning her formerl...

Re: [2e&5e] Angels that are not acting IMO angelic

Specifically, what I ask is: Would an angel strike an evil person down? Since the evil person has choice, there's always a slight chance for redemption. Or... is it? (Under Gothic morality there's no redemption after a point) I guess it depends how 'mechanic-y' you want to be about this. Mechanical...
