Re: It is back!!! What we do know about VR Guide to Ravenlof
My sense is the designer's thought process behind the Grand Disjunction *, was to have each now fully-stand-alone domain make its own sort of internal logical sense without its neighbors necessarily contradicting its very existence. My treks into Ravenloft have been few and far between, but I could...

Re: Players seeking PbP Games / PbP DMs seeking players
PM him and post in the OOC forum that he has until a certain time -- note the time zone -- before he forfeits his turn. I once played a WoD LARP where the ST would count down from 5 after shouting out the initiative number. If you couldn't think of something to do in those few seconds, your player c...

Fanmade adventures in Timor?
So, I'm running Hour of the Knife and realized that the part where... ...you wake up in the sewers after your whole party dies... ... technically happens in Timor. It got me thinking about what to do down there. I've read MOST of the official stuff on Timor, and I know that there's no official adven...

Re: The Legend of Korra
Only fault I had beyond some of the minor ones like you mentioned was that the pacing made it feel a bit rushed. They don't have the long draw of the first series to bring in characters or to balance arcs for the story so I hope they can keep the story balanced as it does not seem to follow book ar...

Re: Players seeking PbP Games / PbP DMs seeking players
Zilfer, can you add a couple tables to your first post? One for players seeking games, and one for GMs seeking players.

Re: The Legend of Korra
I LOVED this series. As a GM, I'm blown away by the world craft that has gone into the Last Airbender universe (if the writers ever present on world crafting, I want to be there), and the fact that they stick with the rules they create. Korra wasn't as good as The Last Airbender series, but that doe...

Re: [Non-Ravenloft] [Not what you expect] Wizards vs. TSR
You might be surprised. I can tell you I currently have an Orc follower with my paladin that worships a god of death. He's Lawful Neutral, and hunts Evil Necromancers, and the undead that cause an unnatural end to life or prolong life. He's not a big fan of immortality, and when the party and a ban...

Re: [Non-Ravenloft] [Not what you expect] Wizards vs. TSR
I'm gonna go ahead and move this to the proper forum. (As you said, it's not Ravenloft-related. Horror=>Dark Beyond, RPG=>Roleplaying Games, Horror+RPG=Ravenloft=>General Forum). Also, I respect your attempt to not make this an edition-bash.... but it's treading close to the line, so let's call thi...

[Non-Ravenloft] [Not what you expect] Wizards vs. TSR
Lemme clarify before we go any farther -- I am not going to go into a long tirade that TSR was better as a business than Wizards (that's obviously been proven by history... Wizards wins), and I'm not going to argue that Wizards' simplification of D&D has lead to less awesome gaming sessions (tha...

Re: Help with 1st level adventure. Please.
Most of you here might actually disagree with me about what I write next, but to me, "Ravenloft, the setting" has never been as interesting as "Ravenloft, the style of play" You're right, I disagree, but I see where you're going with the idea. Ravenloft is both the setting and t...

Re: Mistfinder / Pathfinder: Replacing a Paladin's Detect Ev
If it is really that long at least tell me it was interactive?!?!?! You did things or spoke or such right? No exaggeration... he just kept talking, explaining this epic battle that was happening just outside our area of influence. I did my thing and fell asleep -- two other players did their thing ...

Re: Mistfinder / Pathfinder: Replacing a Paladin's Detect Ev
You guys have given me a lot to think about, thank you. I agree, though, that this probably isn't the game for him -- if we were a traditional gaming group, I'd worry more about asking him to leave, but seeing as our dynamic is friends first, game second, he'll just have to suck it up and be unhappy...

Re: New to the Forum? introduce yourself here!
I should probably do this, considering I've posted a few times, already. I'm Dave... I've been playing tabletop RPGs for fifteen or sixteen years (I'm 28, now, and I started sometime in 7th or 8th grade), starting with the black box Classic Dungeons and Dragons (well, starting with Heroes Quest), th...

Mistfinder / Pathfinder: Replacing a Paladin's Detect Evil.
So, in my group we have a paladin -- not just any paladin, but a paladin played by an admitted minmaxer who prefers combat to roleplaying and has spent the last 3 gaming sessions bitching that he doesn't have full plate (he's second level, and they're on Markovia). He's incredibly vocal that Mistfin...
