Re: Pathfinder : Mistfinder Pdf
I found 3.5 quite flexible in building the different Ravenloft NPCs if you include just enough sources (Aside from the Ravenloft d20 books, core & UA, the BoVD can certainly be useful as can the Complete series, I even used the d20 Book of Erotic Fantasy once). Care to post some of your builds?...

Re: Carrion Crown
The folks over at Paizo tend to favour Lovecraftian horror over Gothic Lovecraft's cosmic non-supernatural horror, while pushing the limits of the Gothic genre, is in fact an evolution of the genre while simultaneously creating a new singular form of horror fiction. In that sense Lovecraftian horro...

Re: Evil player characters in Ravenloft: A Dissenting View
It's never one or the other as I allow pc's to play any alignment they choose, it's just the way I work all evil parties--should all players choose an evil alignment, within the Ravenloft context. In my opinion it works far better than heavy handed alignment restrictions, or worse, saying that perso...

Re: Pathfinder : Mistfinder Pdf
I'll post some of my builds when I get home from the office and get a chance to organize the material this weekend. On another note heroic is precisely why I'm considering allowing standard 15 point creation this time. Especially given that I plan to put this group through the ringer.

Re: Grand Conjunction--->ToUD campaign
Another option, especially if you want to run some of the classic modules, is to run the modules mostly chronologically and scale them up or down according to party level. The only changes I would recommened is to run the GC Hexad in level order rather then release order (Night of the Walking Dead--...

Re: Pathfinder : Mistfinder Pdf
On another note, I'm curious as to which pathfinder table you guys use for exp and character creation points? I use the "slow" exp table and the low fantasy 10 creation points, but I was curious as to what others are using. For our upcoming campaign, which will be very difficult even by th...

Re: Psionics in Ravenloft
Personally I've always used Psionics as NPC abilities *only*. I've yet to see a psionic system for PC's that wasn't overpowered. It's a shame too because I'd like to offer it as an option, as most of you know I tend to err on the side of player choice (my 1e roots I suppose lol) but attempting to ba...

Re: Pathfinder : Mistfinder Pdf
It's more of a Jekyll/Hyde class imo, so my first Ravenloft association would be Tristen Hiregaard/Malken. Good point, the mutagen abilities just made sense for Markhov to my way of thinking. I tend to design unique classes around the abilities of respective darklords because 0 level humans and/or ...

Re: Evil player characters in Ravenloft: A Dissenting View
And I'm not sure if I'd ever allow a full evil party. One character slipping from good to evil or redeeming himself from evil to good, or dancing on the edge could make for good drama. A whole party of them could quickly get silly. Aren't the FoS characters and the old Kargatane with their stories ...

Re: Pathfinder : Mistfinder Pdf
On a somewhat unrelated note, did anyone else upon reading over the abilities of the Master Chymist PrC immediately think of Frantisek Markhov?

Re: Grand Conjunction--->ToUD campaign
I'm working on my own, for the fun of it, and it would be a fitting finale for any Ravenloft campaign, but who knows if my group ever makes it that far. In Ravenloft I don't think we've ever played past 12th level, just due to the story arcs we had. We've done some high level play in Planescape but ...

Re: Pathfinder : Mistfinder Pdf
As mentioned elsewhere (GM Binder thread I think), I like having the core books in dead tree format for exactly the reasons Don Fernando stated but there is just no reason to have 50 supplements stacked to the ceiling when a thumb drive does that job just fine. It is actually sort of nice to know t...

Yes, they also did the soundtracks for nearly all of Dario Argento's films in his heydayDrinnik Shoehorn wrote:I like the Goblin track, didn't they do the "Dawn of the Dead" music?

Re: 4E Ravenloft--Back into the Crypt for Now
Let's try to cut back on the 4e-bashing, please. It's not my favorite either, but like it or not, it's the future of the D&D brand. Any future Ravenloft-related releases will be 4e, not Pathfinder. You can play Ravenloft in 4e, either straight 4e, or with Jester's (or your own) tweaks. I've don...

Re: House of Strahd Soundtrack
I like some of the more atmospheric and eerie songs from Agalloch and Opeth. Here's a link to "In the Shadow of Our Pale Companion" by Agalloch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOI_XqLiQmE For sheer dark atmosphere however, the Suspiria soundtrack from Goblin is tough to beat, I've used this...
