Horseman of the Apocalypse

I started another thread about multiple horror genres in d&d. I am going to be running a one off campaign about Toben the Many but I thought this idea belonged in a new thread. I was watching the new Sleepy Hollow tv series which relates to the four horseman and I thought this would make for a g...

Re: Multiple horror genres in a DnD campaign

Thanks to everyone who has given advice, I have had some brilliant ideas. Dark Angel - that's a great idea using that poem I love the film Identity. Any film with Ray Liota is good. The idea was given to me by the film Fallen with Denzel, but the poem would work better than the song 'time is on my s...

Re: Multiple horror genres in a DnD campaign

I have been reading on Toben the Many and I really like the potential that this could bring. I am having all sorts of ideas, I have decided to use Toben in a sort of feature length D&D session, rather than part sessions to really build the atmosphere of survival horror. I have come up with the f...

Re: Multiple horror genres in a DnD campaign

Cheers for all the replies. I will look at getting Dagon (loved the story, haven't seen the film) and reading up on Toben the Many, sounds an interesting villain. A domain based on Chainsaw massacre sounds like it could be good fun. I really want to create a story that will really make my players fe...

Multiple horror genres in a DnD campaign

Hey all, Have been away for a while but am now looking to DM a horror campaign for my players. I am looking to write a campaign, that will use multiple genres from horror, e.g. slasher, ghosts etc. But I want to do it so that the transition between genres makes sense. My main idea is that the PCs ar...

Haunted playroom puzzle and PC getting immobilised in chair

Hi all, I am still working on my campaign involving a abandoned child's hospital/asylum. The asylum is located in a deserted town. I am trying to come up with puzzles that the PCs will face through out the hospital/asylum. The puzzles will either give clues to the story of the campaign or they will ...

Re: Midnight Children

Hi Arikail, thanks for your views. Yeah help yourself mate anything to help another DM. I can see your point regarding releasing devils and beasts onto Ravenloft could cause problems. My idea was to have Azalin as the person responsible. I have started to write the campaign and im sure the idea will...

Midnight Children

Hi all, Carrying on from my previous post about using a children's asylum, I have decided to make a change to my current campaign that I am running. My campaign is basically Quantum Leap in Ravenloft, bouncing from place to place/time to time using as many of the pre made modules as possible, but th...

Re: Children and asylum's - Creepy campaign

Thanks for the replies. I'll have a read through Where Madness Dwells, but i really like the concept of the players finding a doctors diary stating his treatment of the children and what experiments he conducted. But I also want to play on the lore that you have to salt and burn the bones of a dead ...

Re: Favorite Ravenloft monster

I love the Nightcrawler of Souragne. Little kids asking if your their "mommy" freak me out. Plus during my game they were the monsters I had the best response from my players with.

Children and asylum's - Creepy campaign

Hi all, I haven’t posted for a while as I have been running my campaign. Its been going really well, we have taken a break to allow another DM to run his game. At the moment there are 3 DMs trying to run games so we are doing them in 3 month intervals. My game has proven really popular I decided to ...

Re: Story-arc opnion

Again thanks for the advice Strahdsbuddy. Yeah i can definitely see issues with this. Im stuck then, if I can give you what's happened so far and if anyone can give me advice on story arcs that might work. I have 5 PCs - 2 Shifters, 1 Red Wizard of Thay, 1 Dragonborn Cleric, 1 Human Fighter. They ha...
