Re: Farewell to the Flesh and other RPGA Ravenloft Modules
There might be some light at the end of the tunnel. WotC have got some of their classic modules in their release schedule for 2013: the A and the S series are up for print release in June and March respectively, while the 1st Ed Unearthed Arcana is up for release in February? There was also some dis...

Re: Toben the Many? o.O'
Anyways this guy perked my interest, from the bits and pieces i was able to gather he infects recently dead people. Smiles creepily alot, and talks in a weird voice which i'm having a hard time picturing. (is that the right word for a sound?) He seems to have a twisted sense of humor as well, anyth...

Re: Really scary ghosts
I tentatively agree with Jack the Reaper's reasoning, as I very much enjoy using ghosts in RPGs (unfortunately I'm running Live-Action Vampire at the moment and well, let's just say I could rant...oh, how I could rant). However, I would argue that any antagonist that can strike at a player character...

Re: Horror Novels
Very good authors are: - Guy de Maupassant - M.R. James These two. If you haven't read them yet then I would definitely read a collection of their stories. James wrote the textbook ghost story and even though I know how and why they work, I still find some of his short stories absolutely terrifying...

Re: Really scary ghosts
If you need some inspiration then can I recommend Ghostwatch? It was a BBC drama that was sparked a controversy when it was first shown. I watched it recently when it popped up in a DVD bargain bin at my local supermarket. It scared the ever-loving crap out of my girlfriend and I. On a more useful n...

Re: New to the Forum? introduce yourself here!
Hey everyone, I was an old forumite on WolfKook's Ravenloft Reanimated and Ultimate Ravenloft threads and then life got in the way, and I disappeared for what seemed like not very long...but actually turned out to be a couple of years. I've been lurking for a while and I recently reactivated my acco...

Sadly enough, I was considering the same thing with an eye to conversion. I did have an Excel document with the minimum and maximum suggested character level and the modules' presumed place in the timeline. I was planning to run a long but whistlestop tour of the Ravenloft plot arcs (van Richten, Gr...

Savage Worlds would be an important conversion. This one would be MUCH easier than one might think, since their Rippers plot point is very Ravenloft-like and many of the mechanics and monsters would be adjustments of existing features and creatures, rather than created from whole cloth. Great idea!...

I think some good examples of how to portray or play out the Haunted feat are: - Russell Crowe's character in Beautiful Mind was battling with mental illness in a very compelling way. The way he tried to deal with them was very novel and interesting as well. Good source of inspiration. - Six Feet U...

I'm not sure how I feel about Tepest as a Celtic...possibly Irish, inspired domain. I had always thought of it more like the Grimm's Fairy Tales brought to life, the Black Forest with evil critters hiding among the trees. Toss in some crazy, axe wielding, witch burning peasants, and you're in busin...

It's a little clichéd I know but given a personality like Ivana's as a cold, not a little playful sadist...perhaps stepping away from the 'ermordenung' name and derivatives entirely. After all, I imagine them to be like dolls or even the children that she can never have for an Italianate domain. Now...

Castle Pantera: There was me thinking it was originally built as the home for a big haired '80s metal act. When they went broke it was bought and redecorated as it was pulled into Ravenloft. However somewhere inside can be found: a fully equipped recording studio, a lost stash of drugs/booze/wine g...
