Re: Status check
I don't post much but I do lurk. I haven't done any kind of TTRPG stuff in probably over a year because of a) pandemic preventing the group from getting together and b) bipolar kicking my rear section and making me kinda bleh on gaming. Still write a bit now and then, just haven't actually gamed in ...

Re: Ravenloft is back in 5e?
Everyone's going to have their favorites and their less favorites. Valachan never clicked with me, so I don't really care if it gets remade or not. Dementlieu is more central to Ravenloft than Barovia for me, so it's going to be weird to see ghouls and fey there, but I'll give it a chance. This is ...

Re: It is back!!! What we do know about VR Guide to Ravenlof
Cautious about the changes to NPCs, some of which seem utterly un-needed. Interested, but cautiously so, and may be ripping out a lot of it to put back in the domans and darklords my group and I have been familiar with since 2E.

Frankenstein and The Vampyre
I just caught a great documentary I wanted to tell y'all about, Frankenstein and The Vampyre: a Dark and Stormy Night (I caught it on CuriosityStream.) It was entirely about the writing contest that led Mary Shelley to write Frankenstein and John Pollidori to write The Vampyre. I had known the basic...

If I drove I would be jealous. I don't though, so no license plate for me.

Re: Wasn't there a Ravenloft 5e here?
I'll have to pick up that bundle off the DM's Guild so I can update Monte Mal. Edit: And I know, I've been saying I need to update it for years. I'm 2k words into a new netbook as of today, though.

Re: Something I never thought I'd see.
That definitely counts if they ended up engaged to Boritsi. The player, earlier today, said he stands by his statement. Heinfroth was nothing but good to them.

Something I never thought I'd see.
My Ravenloft mini-campaign for Halloween ended tonight after a trip through Darkagnon Estates, the House of Lament, and finally Doctor Heinfroth's asylum. Fun was had by all, but it had something I never thought would happen in a game. A player actually defended a Darklord (without knowing it.) When...

A bit of a sneak peek into my latest.
After many, many false starts and life getting in the way I've been back at writing. A little taste of what is to come in my newest netbook. Also, if anyone had a character or hook for Monte Mal they would like included, please let me know, as its latest incarnation is now well underway. To my colle...

Re: The Asylum for the Mentally Disturbed
Ah, thank you very much. That should be enlightening. The party is getting a four-week all expenses paid vacation into madness. Week 1: the Strange Story of Darkagnon Estates. Week 2: a storm will force them to seek shelter, ending up in the House of Lament, mirroring their time with the fleas of ma...

Re: Movies that have that Ravenloft feel
One that gave me inspiration lately was actually The Nun. The movie, on the whole, didn't quite have the feel but parts did. The convent itself, being in a gothic style castle, screamed Ravenloft to me, especially with how isolated it was. Also the village and how superstitious the villagers got abo...

The Asylum for the Mentally Disturbed
I've finally gotten my group to agree to a mini-campaign for the entire month of October. Halfway through, the party are likely to wind up in the Asylum, under the -ahem- "care" of the good Doctor Heinfroth, as I've always liked the idea of toying with that domain. Has anyone used the Asyl...

I guess it was inevitable in the game
This one is gonna be a blast from the past for anyone that was at the Goat back in the day and remembers the Ask Azalin forum. The group I'm playing in (DM'd by MagusRogue from the Goat) is going through Curse of Strahd. Some things go very wrong and one of our party members gets captured and chaine...

Re: What's YOUR best work?
That's an easy one for me. Monte Mal. It was well received by the community. My group had a blast playing in it, getting caught up in the resistance against the Doge and his lackeys. We even had one PC turn on the resistance for a shot at power, falling under the sway of the Doge and, ultimately, th...

Ravenloft in the FATE system
Hey all, I've been out of touch with the community, for the most part, for a while and didn't see anything about this with a quick search, but has anyone tried to run a game of Ravenloft using the FATE/FUDGE system? It occurred to me while running a Dresden Files game for my group that it definitely...
