Re: What Tales are in the Tome of Terror?

Hmm... Carrionetes come to mind as possible parts of the Tome. Or the "Bloody Cobbler" of Sithicus (I forget the novel). The Bloody Cobbler, from the top of my mind was visiting those that were on the wrong path. First time, he left a warning in the form of the soles of the previous guy. S...

Re: Insectoid

It's not the mechanical properties that's the problem, it's the structural properties of the exuviae/molts that will cause problems, that is, they're too soft, too brittle and deteriorate too quickly. It's not a matter of "old bones" vs "fresh bones," it's a matter of "toen...

Re: Insectoid

But this is my point, Mephisto. They would not necessarily be "useless". The reason I brought up a 2000 years old skeleton is that such skeletons are very very brittle and have no tenonts. But a skeleton made from them is as tough as the caster makes it. Same with the Exuviae. With the rig...

Re: Insectoid

The "mechanical" properties of the animated corpse / exoskeleton / exuv-? are of little interest when it comes to the undead creature. A skeleton doesn't have tenonts and still moves. A 2000 years old skeleton used to animate dead is as tough as a fresh skeleton.

Kas was the real Kas? I always thought Kas was a fake copy of Kas that they put there to troll Vecna.

Re: The kingdom of the kobolds (dragon darklord idea)

There's an entire adventure module, "Dragon Mountain", centered around fourteen quite distinct and individualized clans of Kobolds serving a Red Dragon in a magical mountain which shifts through different worlds and Prime Material Planes. I'd highly recommend checking it out! Wow! That's ...

Re: Ravenloft Witch and Warlock class problems

Got it, thanks Mephisto.
That said the green text is barely better. Why don't you use the normal color so it would adjust to the background people use?

Re: Ravenloft Witch and Warlock class problems

That quote is not readable, Mephisto. It seems white on white on me.

That said, once I read it, it mentions something about special spellcasting for Hala Witches and their covens. What does that mean? I don't remember anything special for Hala magic.

Re: Ravenloft Witch and Warlock class problems

I respectfully disagree on the following points: - Someone identifying as a Hala Witch doesn't need the Prestige. 1 level of druid to have some magic seems fine to me. - I prefer the "We do both!" version of Hala Witches. - Level 7 required for Prestige classes is nothing special. Usually ...

Re: Ravenloft Witch and Warlock class problems

Back then, I didn't see it as a problem at all. Even before this Prestige class, we had other Cleric/Wizard hybrid prestige classes. The way it was handled is not that you are 3rd level cleric and then 3 levels of sorcerer. It was you start as a 1st lvl cleric, then get a level of wizard, then 2nd l...

Re: The kingdom of the kobolds (dragon darklord idea)

Meanwhile, my non Ravenloft game is in an area where: 150 or so years ago, the Consort of Tiamat (her boyfriend, a boosted White) showed up. The numbers of Metallic dragons have been raising for years prior, blessed by Tiamat. The Consort of Tiamat signaled the call and dragon activity exploded. Dra...

Re: The primary masquerade problem of a high-society vampire

Keep in mind that my suggestion has a bunch of people for the rich and the nobles to feel important, and a lot of the production part taken over by those "strange ships" Thus, while you would expect 80% or so of the population to work in food production, Now you have about 40,000 people in...
