However, the dwarves polluted so much of the domain with their mining operations that the fey became corrupted and evil. This led to a flood followed by a fey attack that wiped out most of the dwarves, save for those lingering in the lowest depths of the mines. Since the day of the flood, returning to the surface has been taboo among the dwarves. Henceforth, they have built settlements underground.
