The Brotherhood of Mortis is a cult and secret society in Paridon that work to create every more powerful creatures of superhuman or supernatural ability to serve as their minions.[1] The group's existence predates long before the time Paridon entered Ravenloft, going back to early history. It has been suppressed and disbursed numerous times, but a diary or journal from the previous incarnation always ends in the hands of a newcomer.[2] The leader and founder of its current incarnation is Alec Lawrence, and he has recruited a wide strata of middle class professionals to join his group to masque its identity. Merchants, doctors, bankers, and many others number the ranks, but all have some wizardly ability that allows them the use of Necromancy.[3]
