Crowley says, "I was sleeping. Heard some noise. Got up. Saw Vollmar beating the stuffing out of a guy in a mask. Another masked guy lay on the floor, not moving. I didn't have time to ask a lot of questions; the dwarf sent me to tell you."
He retrieves a flask from his jacket and takes a swig from it.
'' I got out into the street and saw lots of masked men beating people and knocking apart shacks. Some shouting about the Alamiens. Flagged this cart down after running through the River Gate and yelling at the Watch to go do their jobs. "
"I hope we can get there before the Watch does. I want to ask these men a few questions of my own." Turning to Gimp, she smiles a big smile, "I really do so hope the we arrive first."

GUNNAR AND SAFANA
NEAR THE WHARF
Lord Skybolt wrote:
alhoon wrote:Seeing Safana talking easily for the armored man, Termelan immediately seems far more at ease. He approaches the armored warrior and says "Pleased to meet you, sir Gunnar." Then he turns to Safana "You're full of surprises my lady" and then turns to the knight. "I can also vouch for the lady" he says in a friendly, playful tone. "Not a moment of boredom in her company. I am sure she can fill you in with whatever details about the attack on the poor woman you require. In the meantime, I'll go make sure the thugs remain tied and see to the attacked woman and the kid."
Turning to Safana, Termelan tells her "I still owe you those drinks..."

And with that he starts towards the downed bandits and their victims, hoping to help the woman and the boy and be around till the watch comes.

"Nice to see you hale and healthy with this organized attack going on against some common folk ."Turning to the old man Gunnar says to him:"Make sure those fools don't drown themselves by overcrowding those boats ." He nods to the man that Safana vouches for then looks to make sure those in the boat do as the old tells them to for there own safety . If they do not, he lends his considerable voice to calm them down if need be with a battlefield sounding command to them .

The panicking crowd does not respond to the old man's admonitions. Gunnar shouts at them to stop, but only some of the people heed his warning. Over two dozen men, women, and children continue piling into the already occupied fishing boats, many of which look liable to capsize at any moment and spill their passengers into the cold current...

TEMERLAN

Hastening away from the wharves, Temerlan returns to the spot where he had left the bound thugs, the woman, and the boy.
At first glance, everything seems much as he left it, with the sleepers laying in their places.
But the twilight has begun to slip towards true night, so if Temerlan can produce a torch or some other source of illumination he cannot be certain nothing has moved here...

Termelan:

Unable to produce a source of illumination, Termelan approaches the Thugs first to check on their bindings, planning to rouse up the woman and the young man next.

Filbert/Perry

Filbert takes off his mask and hides it in a pocket of his cloak.

"Yes of course, lets go. I think it's better ask who is the high officer in charge and talk to him, I guess there are less chances for him to be bribed."

Filbert waits Milo to takes off his mask and then knocks at the Watch's door.

A young watchman admits the pair of informants.

He leads them to a dank, candlelit chamber where they must wait under guard. The two Watchers on duty in this room do not cease throwing dice, but instead invite "Perry" and Milo to join them.
On of the two guards indicates a little pile of low value coins in the middle of the table.

The bindings have held. The thugs remain asleep, although on of the moans and tosses a little.

Safana rolls her eyes and gestures at the water. With a shimmer, the river begins to boil and tendrils of water rise, glittering with white flame and forming huge letters, twice man high...

THE BOATS ARE ABOUT TO SINK. GET BACK ON THE PIER OR DIE!

Her spell completed she mutters "and if they ignore that, they deserve their fates..."

The people don't ignore the words, but neither do they all obey the warning. Confusion increases, if that's possible. One man stares and mumbles, as if trying to sound out the letters. A woman screams "Fire out of the river!"

Safana sighs and concentrates again. The silent image shifts to a perfect depiction of the nearest boat (somewhat reduced in size) rapidly sinking under the weigth of a huge horde of people and an arrow of silver fire pointing at the shore.

THE WATERFRONT

That, they understand.

With help from Gunnar and the old torchbearer, Safana herds the people out of the boats and onto the pier. All of them.

The panicked mood gives way to fearful muttering and nervous glancing about, but at least now no one is jumping into boats or running about screaming.

The crowd looks like about fifty people, all told, including babies and little children. Cold, some of the wet, and many pale with fear.
Some of the men bleed from cuts to their heads, arms, and chests.

Domenica
at the River Gate

Arriving at the River Gate, Domenica finds it shut, with only a small complement of guards on duty. The Watchmen flag her cart and the driver guides the horse pulling it to a halt.

The Watchmen confer briefly, standing a little way distant from the cart.

One of them approaches and says,'' Of course Lady Barillia. But maybe you should wait for an escort? We cannot abandon our posts, but we can send a runner for more men."
