Did TSR stop shrink wrapping their 2nd edition adventures?

Post by Lithequill »

At any point was this the case? I have a guy on eBay telling me this.

Is this a factory sealed product?

It is not. As I recall things, the company stopped shrink wrapping product in this time frame. At this time, I purchased two copies of each item and bagged and boarded it. Hence the near mint condition.

If memory serves me well, the later years' perfect bound softcovers (The Shadow Rift, Carnival, etc) weren't shrinkwrapped.

IIRC even the smaller products and books weren't shrinkwrapped, like Champions of the Mists.
Anything with a loose cover or map was likely shrinkwrapped though, to prevent that falling out. So I imagine most modules were shrinkwrapped.

Maybe if you told us which book in particular are you talking about we may give more precise answers.

I know Domains of Dread did not come wrapped, but the Silver Anniversary did (mine still is).

Yep. Domains of Dread didn't come shrink wrapped. The monster hunter's Compendium also were not. I got my copy of Champions shrink wrapped though. i don't remember if that was done by the FLGS or by TSR. The last boxed sets were also shrink wrapped (Bleak house, Requiem).

I know that this is the point of this thread, but wouldn't anything with a separate map automatically come wrapped? Like Shadow Rift wasn't, but the Awakening was? Otherwise the materials would just slide out? No?

Exactly what I was thinking. There's people on eBay trying to pass those kinds off as new
