loony tunes in ravenloft?(silly I know)

Post by jules »

how would the loony tunes work in ravenloft?
I'm personally thinking of bugs bunny working like a caotic version of a paladin or something like that for them myself.

Not necessarily what you're looking for, but I helped create hengeyokai for Pathfinder (for my Kaidan setting of Japanese horror), and the base race includes a hare variety called the usagi - its a shapechanger (not a lycanthrope) with its normal form as hybrid 'rabbit headed humanoid', and ability to appear as a single human form and a true animal, hare form. You can find its write up on d20pfsrd.com - hengeyokai.

Also there's a racial paragon class for hengeyokai called mushakemono which is based off ranger, but has expanded shapechanging/elemental abilities, as well as being able to exist in 2 places at once, among other unique abilities.

Maybe not the direction you want - maybe you don't play Pathfinder... anyway, just a suggestion for rabbit PCs, you know? Might make a cool NPC as well.

This sounds more like a perpetual hell where everyone is trying to one up and maim each other (think Adam and Mordenheim), but are unable to kill or change things in any significant ways. Bugs sounds more like a foil for others than the darklord type as he succeeds in more of his schemes than not. I just keep imagining the forest scenes with Daffy, Bugs and Fudd wandering around and the infamous "Duck season! Rabbit season!" exchanges.

No doubt, I was just tackling "Bugs" with that suggestion. I was trying to get feelers if that, in any way, was helpful for what you're looking for. So you didn't have to try to build your own humanoid rabbit, since something similar actually exists. Add to that henge also include: dog, cat, monkey, badger, rat and raccoon dog (though the latter isn't very Loony Tunes). Also you could give tengu a facelift and make it a "Daffy Duck"...

Elmer Fudd's a ranger, while Yosemite Sam is a fighter/rogue or a gunslinger (if using Pathfinder).

And as Dark Angel suggests, a Loony Tunes world is all about one-upsmanship, and maiming opponents to near death (though they never seem to die). For some reason I see an orchestra of bards playing various classical pieces in the background of any combat or major encounter - like any standard Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Or perhaps get really whacky, and say the environment of the world and people/monsters look like cartoons and perhaps physics changes to cartoon physics... like walking 20 feet past the edge of a cliff before you realize you're in mid-air, before you fall to your near death, 500 feet below.

That's pretty much what I was going for.

Yosemite Sam might make for an interesting twist on Drakov.

I would probably use the TOON rules for such a game, to preserve the flavor of the original.
The Avariel has borrowed wings,
The Puppeteer must cut the strings
The Orphan Queen must take the throne
The Queen of Orphans calls them home

Nightmare Lands?

It could work.
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

I ran a Munchkin campaign in Ravenloft (dubbed Munchkinloft) for an After School Program. All of the PCs were played by 8-11 year old kids. Their party was composed entirely of gnomes (who were all siblings) and three baby dragons. The premise of the campaign was that this zany band could walk into nearly any domain and make the Dark Lord's life a living Hell with their antics. The exception to this was Strahd of course. The Lord of Barovia managed to use his spooky castle to frighten them into working for him. Taking a page from Azalin's Grand Conjunction scheming, he basically commanded them to travel to each domain and steal a signature belonging from each Dark Lord (Harkon Lukas's monocle, A Hag's Eye, etc...). His theory was that the gnomes' "Grand Calamity of Hi jinks" would somehow free him of his curse. Silly I know. ;)

From memory, here are some names/descriptions of the characters:

Binky: wyrmling copper dragon sorcerer with a penchant for carrying around stuffed animals to cuddle with.

Gasy, aka Stinky, aka Neil Armstrong: flatulent wyrmling green dragon wearing an astronaut's headgear.

Healy: gnome cleric of a larcenous deity, who always refused healing to his brothers (The PC's catchphrase was: "I run away.")

Rumble: flatulent gnome fighter who wore heavy armor and carried the "Hammer of Foot-Squishing".

Snotcules: nasally gnome barbarian with a great great greataxe that did ridiculous damage.

Snozzy Boogerborne: bulbous nosed gnome bard with an electric guitar who could inspire his enemies to attack one another with his rock music.

Sparky: gnome invoker with a cute but deadly Pokemon-like dragon on his shoulder.

Stealy: ghost gnome rogue whose death made him even more of a nuisance.
