Vincent doesn't hesitate and pursues immediately. He is almost taken by surprise as a giant woman charges, screaming, into the smaller cloaked man. He lifts an eyebrow, wondering where the 'beast' came from and what she is doing here.
Seeing she is helping them, apparently, he decides to ignore her for now. The larger cloaked man is his target. "Come back, coward" he yells after him.

Zumba charges after the hooded man, his fists whirling through the air and nearly setting the tails of his robe aflame. Vincent is at his side, their boots pounding a rhythm against earth too dry for the location. A skittering sound may or may not escape their attention as Claude comes scuttling into view, just in time to see...

The man in black, leaning casually on his staff in the pillar's shadow.

Shadow...

Two more men in black step out of the darkness as if it were a door, both of them wielding black swords. Both reach up at the same time, exposing Zumba and Vincent to the Face of Terror.
(OOC: Fear saves, DC 17, or be shaken for one minute.)

"Don't fret, boy," the man in black with the staff calls to Vincent as the two sword-bearers advance. "As soon as the Myrd have finished killing your friend, I'll deal with you."

(OOC: Goren, I really need an attack roll and damage roll for your spell...)

The smaller black robe, faced with not only Goren's suddenly-materializing weapon but also Orda's charge, raises her hands before her with a cry of alarm. As Orda charges, she suddenly finds herself slamming into an invisible wall.

(OOC: Yes, really. She has initiative on you, alas... :-\)

Lucien is just receiving Claude's report when a terrible, rending crash fills his world - and all the others. The terrible machine... is falling to pieces! A large gear goes spinning off into the distance, a massive fanbelt snaps at the earth near the Half-Elf, fortunately without hitting him. In the aftermath, there is relative silence. Silence, apart from the sounds of battle and the moan of approaching zombies.

It takes a moment before you all realize that the howl of the stationary sandstorm has also ceased, and that the moaning is coming from all around. Behind you, the animal/human hybrids have started to scream with terror and pain.

Zumba: sickened for 3 rounds
Smaller black robe -5 hp
Vincent: -12 subdual damage
Goren: - 17 hp
Orda
Lucien: - 10 hp
Larger black robe: - 24 hp

Goren, seeing the huge blue woman run into some type of invisible wall, slows and with one hand follows it until it stops to proceed to attack the black robed foe.

Slamming her massive shoulder full into the invisible wall she is halted with a growl and a sharp shifting of her feet to keep from falling as her blade clangs with great force against nothing. Orda regains her full footing and glares through the space between her and the robed woman... Unblinking and teeth still gritted with more anger than before... Few barriers or strong beasts have ever stopped let alone slowed her charge, and only her magic saved this weakling... So Orda silently stares for where her current opponents eyes should be with intense but still barely contained rage.

She drags the tip of her massive blade scraping along that side of the invisible wall and begins stalking for the other edge faintly aware that the man she choose to not attack is heading for the other.

This woman who so casually asked for his death claims to know where Chickenbone is. And she appears to be some sort of weakling caster and coward... All too familiar and yet she knows in the back of her mind this is not back then but still she feels the familiar bile rise in her. In a roar of sound parts to a great construction fly over and around and the howls of beast men and the moans of the dead become clearer as the wind behind her seems to fade.

Still she barely registers everything else as she stalks around this barrier focused and glaring directly at this woman that has earned her hate so fast. "I don't work in murdering others for cowards like you! It is your conflict so kill him yourself you weakling... But know that you will not stall me short of surrendering where Chickenbone is here and now! You have until I get past your little wall to decide if you surrender or we become serious about this caster... Your choice..."

Zumba is hot on the pursuit of the robed man, but when this reveals that hideous visage, Zumba stops and reels back. He's unable to follow on his attack, and in agony, he turns to the side and vomits, holding his bowels, knee on land.

Lucien focus his thoughts on the bone wand. With the Machine destroyed, are the zombies now free of the subduing effect around the area? Kill the animal-men! is his mental command to any zombie who will heed him.

Before he can take note of whether the undead are obeying him again, he sees that Vincent and Zumba are in a great deal of trouble. "No more appearing and disappearing," he growls, and the half-elf's brow furrows as he concentrates his mind on the newcomers. Immediately, a wall of golden, coruscating energy surrounds the cloaked men - cool to those fortunate enough to be on the outside of the circle, but intensely painful to those within!

__________________________________________
Minor or Free: Command the zombies.
Standard: Expend 5 pp to manifest energy wall (electricity) around the two newcomers -- and possibly Cartwheeling Cloaked Guy since he's standing nearby. Although I don't know Vincent's action yet, Zumba certainly hasn't closed to melee with them. If Vincent closes to melee on his turn, then the wall will manifest around as many of the enemy as possible without trapping an ally (and keep in mind that the wall can go through an enemy upon creation, too).
Damage: Energy Wall (electricity) damage (2d6=10) = 10 points of electricity damage to anyone within the damaging side of the wall; Reflex DC 19 for half. :) Anyone who is in the wall when it appears or who subsequently goes through the wall takes 15 electricity damage (again, Reflex DC 19 for half).
Remaining power points: 18.

Not that it likely matters, but... Round 4 of 5: The earlier energy wall continues to do sonic damage: 11 points of sonic damage, which ignores hardness; Reflex save 17 for half.

Vincent's eyes good wide, seeing the faces, but he doesn't lose his momentum from his pursuit. He dives between the two newly arrived, bent on getting to the robed man leaning in the shadows. He rolls and comes up for his strikes.

OOC:
Fear 22 (did not expect to get that lucky)
Tumble 14 (this is the exact opposite, AoO I guess)

Rapier 22, Damage 8
Mace 10.
Tresspassers will be shot......
Survivors will be shot again.

Zumba falls to his knees, retching desperately in the face of the horror approaching. One of the two Men in Black grins evilly and raises his black blade to strike the Capoeira a mortal blow -- only for Vincent to intercede. While his mace goes wide, his rapier strikes true! Snarling and growling, the abomination backs off.

"Bring the Mother," the other abomination snarls, turns -- and throws itself on the black robe with the staff! "The Master demanded this, should you damage his device," the creature says as it drags its staff-wielding comrade into the shadow, where they both vanish.

The injured black robe seems to hesitate -- and then dashes past Vincent and Zumba, heading for the shorter black robe!
(Vincent, you can take an AoO at your leisure.)

"You want Chicken Bone?" the short woman shouts at Orda. "Behind you! He is in the house behind you, look around damn you!"

Provided Orda does look around, she can see a hut on the edge of the swamp. The earth around it has been scoured clean by the stationary sandstorm, but fog is rising from the ground right now. Thick, billowing fog, in which indistinct forms struggle and thrash.

One of the animal/human-hybrids comes running out of the fog, its eyes wide with terror. It does not get far before something grabs its feet, causing it to trip. Hands. Hands, rising from the earth and dragging a decayed corpse up after them. The zombie's jaws bite down on the screaming hybrid's throat while its hands rip away armour and open up the body cavity.

Goren finds that the wall is curved. It's a dome, or a half-dome, its border touching the odd pillar. Inside, however, his flaming mace strikes true, eliciting a cry of pain from the little black robe. "Damn you!" she shrieks. "The Great Lord take your soul and devour your eyes! I will feed your bones to the Myrd as candy! Damn you!"

The little black robe raises her hands, and Orda and Goren hear a dull roar from behind and to the left. If they turn, they can see the water of the swamp rise. Slowly, ponderously, it rises -- and then it crashes down on the two of them.
(OOC: That's 200 pounds of water. You both take 8 damage and have to make a Balance check or Reflex save DC18, or be knocked prone.)

Lucien's power draws another circle of power around the two remaining black robes, just as the injured one runs up to the smaller one. They can both be heard screaming from inside...

Zumba: sickened for 3 rounds
Smaller black robe -15 hp
Vincent: -12 subdual damage
Goren: - 17 hp
Orda
Lucien: - 10 hp
Larger black robe: gone!
Generic black robe #1: -13 hp
Generic black robe #2: gone!

Orda glances away slightly to confirm the house yet turns to face the woman to demand she follow her to the hut...

She hears the woman's insane shout and vile threats however and yet Orda turns away again behind as the sound of the water rising up distracts her from the situation.

As the wave strikes her solidly she realizes that she is not about to surrender to her. Orda keeps the glimpse of the small house in mind even as her footing fails her...

However it is in the back of her mind now that she has been struck and thrown violently by this mass of rushing water and slams her to the ground.

Rising bruised, battered and drenched by the water she is gasping and yet as she fully gets back to her feet she is growling...

"So... (Cough) If you won't surrender... (Cough) You should learn... To strike... ONLY YOUR ENEMIES WITCH! BECAUSE YOU JUST MADE ANOTHER!!!"

Goren is knocked flat by the powerful water spell, clearly out of breath at the moment. Coughing and sputtering, he attempts to rise. He also is beginning to prepare another spell, eyeing the spot black robe woman is on. He has not, however dropped his weapon, so this is how he will attack the black robe woman.

The red haired man wonders, at the same time, who the large frost giant woman is who has appeared and looks to be helping them.

Lucien takes some satisfaction from his electrical attack's effect on the two foes, especially after seeing the female enemy apparently summon some sort of watery attack against Goren and the new arrival. More than that, the screams of the hybrid suggest that control of the zombies has returned to him ... or perhaps to Chicken Bone.

Mentally, he says, Claude, get back over here. The bizarre crystalline creature crawls toward him on spider-like legs.

He then gets on one knee in the muck, readies his crossbow, and taps into his mental resources to glimpse images of all the different possible points in the future from which the two foes could emerge from the circular wall of lightning.

Good to see you back, Rock! :D

Minor: Ready light crossbow.
Standard: Expend 1 pp to manifest offensive precognition. Duration: 5 minutes.
Continuing: The energy wall (electricity) will continue for 5 more rounds, dealing 10 points of electricity damage to anyone within the damaging side of the wall; Reflex DC 19 for half. Anyone who goes through the wall takes 15 electricity damage (again, Reflex DC 19 for half).
Also... last round for the sonic wall. (Good job, sonic wall!) 11 more points of sonic damage (which ignores hardness), not that it matters.
Remaining power points: 17.

Zumba gets up after that moment of weakness. Still affected, he looks around to see who's near that he can still attack or defend. He goes in that direction ready to strike.

OOC: I'm guessing it would be near Vincent, but since so many baddies seem to have disappeared, he would be ready to go to Goren if he could help the priest. He's still not trusting the new arrival, though.

(OOC: I keep getting sidetracked, darnit! >_<)

Vincent's blade strikes true, biting into the Black Robe's flank as he rushes past -- but it is not enough to stop the taller creature from reaching its comrade's side before the circle of lightning comes crackling and hissing into life. Almost immediately, the two entrapped horrors start to scream their agony.

"Filth!" you can all hear the smaller Black Robe screech from inside the circle of electricity. "Filth! The Great Lord take your eyes and burn your bones while keeping you alive! Filth! The pain!"

"Mistress, the pain!" the taller Black Robe howls. "The light! I can not open the doors with this much light! Please, Mistress, please! I am burning!"

"The Great Lord take you all," the smaller Black Robe screams again. "And I shall be his fist!"

You can all hear the rumbling, roaring sound come from the swamp, even before the shadow falls over you. Water -- muck, really. A towering wave of sludge, shrivelled water plants cresting on top. You have a brief moment before the wave crashes down on all of you.

(OOC: Reflex saves, please. DC 18, or be knocked prone.)

Lucien feels something terrible; the mingling of electricity and almost water... and the dispersal of electric energy through that water. In laymen's terms: his wall is falling apart.

Orda runs around attempting to find the side of the barrier between her and the witch that had struck her...

She does not look up, but is aware enough in her hearing to notice the familiar sounds of rising sludge and watery filth rising behind her. She simply prepares to brace herself as she rushes forward, her greatsword in hand. As the crash comes however she barely registers the electric shock as little more than muscle spasm and some tingling. She is numb however, whether to pain or just the current she does not know and instead holds firm her footing even as the weight of the semisolid mass pushes at her back.

She also holds firm to her anger...

"CURSES, SPELLS AND RITUALS!!! ALL FOR COWARDLY GAINS... YOU WITCHES... YOU'RE ALL THE SAME! GRRRRRRAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!"

She still tries to move forward attempting to push through the pain and bury her sword into the little robed woman that is the focus of her rage... If she can just get to her...

Goren braces himself for the wave and this time is successful! Now he concentrates himself on the woman and casts his Wall of Light Spell directly on her, focusing the spell's point on where she is.
