"Are you running away?" Nerit called, incredulous of the chaotic spectacle. She stepped briskly forward into the doorway, and there was a flash of light.

PC Actions
Kerrian heals Agale for 18, Mercator for 12, moves a bunch.
Agale stuns Horror 3 and FoS 12.
Celeste moves.
Mercator second winds, pokes Sodalis for 9+2. Heals 5.
Nicolas does not do much of anything useful.
Lia heals Agale for 15, pokes Sodalis for 11+2 and heals 5, but she’s at max anyway.
Nerit hits Sodalis for 36+2, heals 5.
Tomas hits Sodalis for a 24 and a Mark

Recharges:
Thierri for Herme’s Fire: Failure
Thierri for Dazzling Lights: Success
Andres for Frightful Force: Failure
Night Terror for Agony of Dreams: Failure
Jacob de Casteele for Thunderstrike: Success
Simon de Casteele for Thunderstrike: Success
Gauvain for Scourge of Autumn: Success
FW2 for Strangling Darkness: Failure
FW4 for Strangling Darkness: Failure
FW9 for Strangling Darkness: Success
FW10 for Strangling Darkness: Failure
FW11 for Strangling Darkness: Success
Sodalis for The Beauty of Chaos: Failure

Andre tosses a Sound Lance at FW1. Rolls a 3. Neeeevermind.

Night Terror moves down, and uses a Claw Flurry at FW1, FW3, and FW4. Miss, Miss, Hit, dealing 20 damage to FW4. This Bloodies FW4, making him the target of a Devour Dreams, which hits, dealing a further 22 damage, and FW4 is Weakened (Save Ends).

Night Terror then spends an Action Point, and uses another Claw Flurry at FW1, FW3, and FW4. Miss, Hit, Miss. 15 damage to FW3.

Thierri uses Vanishing Act to teleport and turn invisible, and First Aid onto Kerrian. Kerrian can spend a healing surge and make 1 save. (I’m adding 18 HP)

Alice, Richard, and Cerise all move to follow Celeste.

Katja uses Tides of Iron on FW3, rolls a 2.

Remy uses Shatter on Sodalis, rolls a 2. (?!?)

Athene is Dazed, but uses a move action to get herself de-Grabbed and shifts a square. She regenerates 10 damage.

Gauvain shifts, attacks Sodalis with two Ravenskull Scythes, and shifts away. One hit, one critical, for 12 and 17 damage respectively, and Ongoing 10 Fire damage.

FoS Wizard #1 uses a Shadow Touch vs. Reflex on Night Terror, hit with 30, dealing 13-9=4 Necrotic and FW1 is invisible to Sodalis for a round.
FoS Wizard #2 uses Blinding Shadows on Night Terror vs Reflex, hit with 26 for 11
FoS Wizard #3 uses Strangling Shadows on Night Terror vs Fort: Miss
FoS Wizard #4 uses Blinding Shadows on Night Terror vs Reflex, hit with 27 for 12
FoS Wizard #10 uses Blinding Shadows on Night Terror vs Reflex, Miss

Simon de Casteele and company are sort of blocked by the closed door and the stunned Horror in front of it. So they move around a bunch.
FoS Wizard #9
FoS Wizard #11 is Dazed
FoS Wizard #12 is Stunned
Summoned Horror #3 is Stunned
5 Thugs

Jacob de Casteele uses Word of Pain vs. Will on Athene, hits with a 30, dealing 12 Psychic and Athene is Immobilized (Save Ends)
Summoned Horror#4 uses two claw attacks on Athene. Both Miss, however.
3 Thugs shoot crossbows at Athene. One hit, 8 damage.

Nerit wrote:"Are you running away?"
For the first time since this battle had begun, Sodalis could see. This was good for the creature, and not so good for everyone else. Once more, there was a shudder in the world, and half the people in the room were cast contemptuously aside.

Nerit stood untouched. By some macabre trick of willpower, the half-feline, utterly alien pool of darkness came to a stop before the nun, inclining his head to her. In her minds, Nerit heard his voice, the faintly mocking tones of Your Friend echoing in the vaults of her brain.

<<Perhaps I am. Let me pass.>> The creature said, an undertone of celestial chaos in its voice. And somehow, it still had Sodalis’s smarmy, whimsical tone, even as his voice ran in Nerit’s ears. <<And all our accounts shall be settled.>>

Sodalis takes 10+2 Ongoing.

Sodalis is not blind for the first turn this battle. He celebrates by tossing off a triple Entropic Bolt vs Will at Tomas, Nerit, and Kerrian. 35, 18, 18 (two 3s…). Tomas takes 21-1=20 Psychic Damage and is Pushed 3.

Sodalis spends an action point and tries that again, Entropic Bolt vs Will at Nicolas, Nerit, and Kerrian. 32, 21, 27. Hit, Miss, Hit. Nicolas takes 24 Psychic Damage, Kerrian 17, and both are pushed 3 squares.

He moves up and uses a Tail Slash vs AC at Nerit as a Minor. Hits with a 32, Nerit takes 27 damage, and if she does not end her next turn at least 2 squares away from Sodalis, she takes an additional 6 Force damage.

Saves!
FW11 vs. Daze = Failure
FW12 vs. Stun = Failure
SH3 vs. Stun = Failure
Athene vs. Daze = Failure
Sodalis can’t make any saves due to Gauvain’s Aura.

Nerit staggered backward a pace as the tail lashed out. Somehow she'd avoided his other attempts, but now it was worth getting out of the way.

"Oh, yes, your actions follow your words! At least I informed you of my failures, creature!" she hollered, a wind brisking past Sodalis as she retreated next to Lia--blocking the hall. He'd have to go through the door by Agale or another route.

Standard: Winds of Change on S -- 18 vs 25F (miss)
Half-damage: 14.5 (29), push target 1 square
Move Action: Shift back 2 squares
Minor Action: Shift back 5 squares (thanks, Kerry) = S32

To all intents and purposes Nicolas appears to have totally lost his marbles gesticulating and mumbling incoherently in Sodalis direction. Which has no effect whatsoever apart form to make the poet look even more ridiculous than usual...

Crown of Stars minor, 17, miss. Eldritch Blast 29 vs. Ref, hits. Damage 15 untyped plus 5 cursed plus 2 vulnerable=22 damage (unless the vulnerable 2 doesn't work on untyped damage?). Shift down the hallway to Q31 and activate Shadow Walk, gaining concealment 'til the end of my next turn.

"Die, you scum, you vermin, die!" Lia shouts at Sodalis, her face livid with anger. "Sagitta magi, omne errore vacua, vole!" Again a dart of force punctures the unnatural monster - and Lia starts to shuffle backward. She keeps her eyes and magical tools trained on the enemy, but she glances over her shoulder at the open door leading to the escape route arranged by Celeste.

Standard action: Lia casts Magic Missile at Sodalis and takes 11 more hp off of him.
Move action: Lia moves down to V51.)

Kerrian could see the being that haunted his first vision starting to become more and less real at the same time, and realized it was quite possibly time to make a quick withdrawal. Of course, his spiritual manifestations weren't quite so hasty, one taking the time to tear into the "cat", stripping substance away to reinforce the true reality of nearby allies.

OOC:Moving to P31. Then doing a Defending Strike vs Sodalis. 31 vs reflex which is a hit, and will inflict 10 damage. Any allies adjacent to either spirit companion will gain a +1 to AC while adjacent to either spirit companion. Readying a Spirit's Shield if Sodalis moves.

Fluff later, when I do not feel like poached hell. Celeste rolls a 31! on a Thievery to unlock a window in a maximum security police building, ties a rope down from the balcony, and invites local allies through if they want. She returns to W32 to set up future covering shots. Tune in next round for me to describe how she did all that! It will be great.

PC Actions
Kerrian Spirit’s Shield 6, hits Sodalis for 10+2, heals 5.
Agale misses Sodalis.
Celeste unlocks the window.
Mercator hits Sodalis for 22 damage.
Nicolas misses a bunch.
Lia hits Sodalis for 11+2, heals 5
Nerit hits Sodalis for 14+2 damage, heals 5.

There wasn’t much left of Sodalis now. It was a peculiar thing, really. He did not bleed. He did not cry out in pain. He moved with no impairment, with the same mocking ferocity with which Sodalis did everything. But he simply wasn’t there any longer. The outline of starry darkness was faint, and one could see right through Sodalis, and that was all. He did not die, Sodalis. It was an arguable assertion as to whether something such as Sodalis could die, in any meaningful way. But whatever came, he feared it. And that was enough.

Elias Gauvain moved once more, a striking serpent that glided across the floor. He moved with not a wasted movement, every motion efficient and austere. There was no flash in the Marquis de Montmort. He did not shriek or gesticulate, he simply struck. The raven-skull tip of his cane – his umbrella, really – slashed through the air, drawing a line between the two emerald stars that marked Sodalis’s eyes.

The black centaur had faded away almost entirely now. There was simply nothing left. One could no longer make out the creature’s body, one could no longer see the stars. Only two green stars that floated in space. They hung there for a heartbeat, and they winked out. First the left, and then the right, and Sodalis was gone.

There was a sudden, raucous cheer, and it took a moment for you to realize that it was not to celebrate your achievement. Something had happened outside. Something important.

Nicolas had watched Sodalis' final curtain call with the drooling vacancy usually reserved for the terminally catatonic. His brain simply refused to budge on the motor functions issue. In fact it was only when the cheer went up outside that the poet attempted speech again "whassblurgh" was all he managed with some vague meandering pointing in the general direction of the noise...

Celeste turned away from the window she had been lockpicking--

--Wait. Lockpicking. Celeste had just picked the lock of a barred window in a maximum security government building, in four seconds. With a hairpin. It wasn't even her best hairpin.

Somewhere deep in your psyche, your unconscious mind thought back over the last four seconds, and found them to be...uncharacteristically stable. Your unconscious mind was not certain why it would define reality to be characteristically unstable, when Celeste was around, but there it was all the same. As far as you could tell, Celeste had actually set her mind to picking the lock, bent down, removed her hairpin, and picked the lock like a normal person would do, if they were reasonably skilled at it. She had exercised a useful skill, on her own initiative, and she had even looked rather proud of herself afterward. Your unconscious mind was not sure why it was so surprised about this.

In any case.

Celeste peeked back into the hallway just after Gauvain struck his killing blow -- a round of eager applause was cut short, as she heard the uproar from outside.

"Ah -- no doubt our doughty cohorts have won the day! Shall we join them in their well-deservéd triumph? Oh, do say we must!"

If the way outside is currently unoccupied by baddies, Celeste will head out there with anyone else who'll follow her.
