Ironheart lets out an appreciative grunt as the sword leaps back into his hand.
The air near the devil flickers like a heat mirage.
''EHHHHAAAAH!!''
The ugly brute begins to flail madly at its phantasmal attacker, slicing through empty air with its glaive.

Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

A dozen men stumble out of the flaming building. They stagger towards the encircling lines of soldiers. The men don't cry out- despite the fact that they are burning like torches!
A Purple Dragon officer stands up and points to the shambling figures-
''Zombies, boys! We know how to kill zombies! ''
Soldiers rush forward to engage the burning zombies. Soldiers with spears trip the zombies, and then others hack at them with swords.

CHUNK
Threan slices through the devil's backbone. The creature shrieks...and vanishes in a puff of acrid yellow smoke. Only a pair of black footprints remains.
Elsewhere, the soldiers and watchmen are mopping up: taking prisoners [a few] and finishing off anyone or anything coming out of the building that has an even vaguely threatening appearance.
The Fane is engulfed in fire. The battle now is against the fire- to keep it from spreading. Of course, this risk was considered, and bucket brigades douse any fire that jumps to nearby buildings, but allow the Fane to continue burning.

about thirty minutes later...
A ceasefire-fire order is given by Rask, but there's not much left in the way of targets.
Smoke from the burning wood, plaster, and human flesh has combined with the lingering morning fog to form a gray haze, further reducing visibility.
A handful of burned and injured prisoners are now being herded onto wagons by watchmen. Purple Dragons cheerfully hack to bits the last of the zombies, and stomp to splinters the last of the skeletons.

A cheer goes up from the men.
''Marsember! Marsember!''
And another-
''CORMYR, CORMYR!''

W-C Rask answers Threan,Lord Skybolt wrote:"So was "Breana" in the group of prisoners that we captured ?"Threan asking this of Capt. Rask after coming up him to see how the rap up is going .
''No, no she isn't among the prisoners- or the dead that we have counted thus far. Would you care to interrogate the prisoners as to her whereabouts? My men haven't gotten anything useful out of them yet.''

"Yes I think that would be a good idea . Let me get some of the members of the special squad that I think be would be good at extracting information from them or at least for intimidation value alone . " With that Threan leaves to fetch some useful party members for interrogating the prisoners .

Inovidil frowns as she heard the news about Breana.
"There are many ways a cleric could use to resist fire or even escape from the fane. I think is a good idea to get a team and search around the fane. Breana can also change her appearance so she can be anyone...So if you see a lonely woman or even man burnt or coughing arrest her immediately."

''Yes, ma'am!''
The deputies trot off to carry out Ino's directive.
