EtCR map question

Post by jmkerr »

OK, I'm new here, so take it easy on me if I'm asking a silly question! :D
I've checked out as many errata of Expedition to Castle Ravenloft to see if I can find this answer, but I'm still drawing a blank (although the stuff here at FoS is some of the best I've seen!).

Here's the question - on the map on page 89, under the encounter "The Summoning", there are two circled things marked "S". I can't find ANY reference in the encounter text and/or features to these mysterious "S" marks. Does ANYONE know what they are?

I'd appreciate any help on this one - it's been driving me NUTS!

My guess would be statues, based on how a gray-shaded circled S is used elsewhere in the book. Looks like they did indeed forget to include them in the descriptive text.

Thanks - but it's only going downhill :(

Catman Jim,

Thanks for the welcome! Unfortunately, I just made it worse - in reviewing the other maps, I found ANOTHER one with the mysterious "S" marking with no explanation - this one is the map of the Nymph Hideaway on page 69. AARRGGHH - are Bruce/James trying to drive me mad?

I checked out your idea that it might be statues, but I can't seem to find anything similar on any of the other maps. Sounds logical to me, though -anyone else have any more insights into the matter?

Looks like the Flying Monkeys are alive and well at WotC! I'd been worried about them ever since the Kargatane went down.

How I've missed the exploits of Our Hero from the Doomsday Gazetteers (which was meant to be here last thursday, I'm still waiting dammit! grr).

I can't remember EtCR very well, but I would mark them as statues in my games if nothing else comes to mind.

Thanks for the input one and all - I'm going to consider them statues unless something comes out about them when the errata gets published here.

Have a dark and dreary Christmas!
