Thank Ezra it's not Ravenloft (Dragonlance film)

Post by Gonzoron of the FoS »

Sometimes I dream of a Ravenloft movie.

Then I see something like this and I'm so glad it won't happen.

I'm sorry, Dragonlance fans. I'm sorry.

Anyone spot the dude with the one horn growing out the side of his head, and a little bald guy???? Seriously why does Raistlin remind me of Optimus Prime from the late 80's transformers cartoon......

Maybe Elf pirate Strahd isnt that bad...

Or, when setting out to make a true to life, so to speak, movie about the dread Elf pirate of Lake Baratok, just image how much further the inspiration dark lord would be savaged. A punishment beyond the ken of even the Dark Powers when you think about it . . . .

It is a rough cut trailer. Those in the know say that it uses cartoon quality of the level of lion king.

So what? It is still a great book and it will make (IMO) at least a good movie if not great. I have seen better graphics but this level is acceptable from most of the dragonlance fans I think, since we grew up in the 80s. :)

I'm quite excited about this and anxious to rent the DVD.
I wish some of the Ravenloft tales had the chance to become a DVD, even if it was anime and even if they used such levels of graphics.

Oh, and the quick time version of the trailer is said to be better. Check the Dragonlance movie site.

IMDB claims that it will be released on DVD in the USA on January 15, 2008.

Trailers are supposed to make people want to see movies, not to turn them away. It's a real shame, at least from what I've seen thus far. The Chronicles are probably the best D&D series to date thus far.

For some reason, I feel like the phrase 'How the mighty have fallen' applies here...

Seeing that trailer, there's a reason this didn't get to theaters in the end.

Wies and Hickman have a problem with Soth going to Ravenloft but they let people make this garbage?!

*blink*...did...did I just see...He-man in that trailer?

Image

He's brunette, and he's wearing splint mail, but by the power of Greyskull, that is SO He-man. He's even embarrasingly exposes his crotch while drawing his sword like He-man does.

I say we all screw the regular syllable emphasis, and henceforth say dragON.

Pause it at 0.27 secs to see Raistlin do his transformers impression, love those rectangular eyes!

Seriously I love the Chronicles, still some of my favourite books, and Im sure the story will shine through but that is piss-poor out-dated animation. Consider Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, I know its all CGI and it might not be everyoens cup of tea but it looks awesome, if they had gone even someway towards that it would be better.

The story deserves better thats what Im saying, but hey I'll bet you any money you want I buy it ....

Wow. Just... wow.

When I watched it a second time (to look for the Transformers moment), one thing just kept running through my head:

Dragon... Dragon... Dragon... Dragonlance HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

As a long-time DL-hater, this makes me laugh to no end. I'd say I'm sorry to the Dragonlance fans, but I just can't keep a straight face, because this is just TOO funny. :D :D :D :D :D

Oh my, both movies were horrible!

I haven't read the Dragonlance books, but I'll watch the movie. I hope it's a good one.:)
