Spirit charge & Cavalier

Post by alhoon »

Simple: Cavalier PRC gives Deadly charge. I.e it increases by one multiplier the damage done when charging. So you do thrice the damage when charging from horse back, or four times when charging on your mount with a lance.
Note that this is not critical damage... undead and constructs get it too.

I.e: The death knight cavalier on the nightmare has a strength 24 and spirited charge feat. Has specialization with lances and a lance +2. Also has the power attack feat and yields the lance two-handed.

He gets a -4 penalty to attack rolls to get a +8 to danage. Base attack 10 (8th fighter/2nd cavalier) +13 (wfocus, strength, enchantment, mounted weapon focus, charge bonus) -4(power attack) = +19 to hit roll

The death knight deals 1d8+10(strength)+2(specialization)+2(enchantment)+8(power attack)=1d8+22 x4 = 4d8 +88 damage with a +19 to hit rolls.

Yeap, it is. More reliable than a power word kill BTW. Also nightmares fly very well and can enter in the ethereal plane.
