Question on Vampire Spawns
Hi all,
Are there rules out there that detail the slow transformation of a humanoid into a vampire spawn? - Like for example, Lucy's slow transformation in "Dracula"?
Yours,
Rafael

I imagine that Lucy's transformation is more a matter of long-term constitution loss and some dominate from Dracula's side. Being vampirised (vampirified? Vampired?) is more or less instantaneous (you die and you wake up, only with new eating habits).

I kind of thought of Lucy as being more like a Vampiric bride - having exchanged blood with dracula.
Vampire spawn don't really get a slow transformation. They're the sloppy remains of a slain foe not properly destroyed, rather than a deliberate creation. After all, if a vampire wanted to take his/her time about it, they'd create a full vampire.

I think most people use "sired" like in Buffy and the WoD.Malus Black wrote:I imagine that Lucy's transformation is more a matter of long-term constitution loss and some dominate from Dracula's side. I doubt we can put on D&D typology on Bram Stoker's (or even Anne Rice's) version of vampires. If I remember correctly, Lucy's long and slow transformation is the only concrete example given to us in the book of someone being turned into a vampire all up to the end. So we don't know if it was the only way or not for Dracula to create a vampire. We don't even know if the vampires he created (Lucy or his three "brides" in the castle) could make other vampires themselves. So we cannot say wether it was standard vampirisation (to spawn or full vampire status) or a special treatment given to Lucy (like bridemaking in RL).
Also, was Mina in the process of being transformed or was it just in the movie?

Thank you all for the answers.
To be more specific, my problem is the following:
I am creating an npc for the FoS Challenge, who has supposedly been infected with vampirism and, while accompanying the party on their quest, slowly transforms...
Now, before I write something that goes against 3e, is this a concept that would be workable on the exisiting rules? - I normally don't run RL under 3e rules, so I am a bit puzzled.

Erm, I'm guessing they lose the most recently gained levels first? At least thats how I always assumed it.

Wizards came out with the VAMPIRE SPAWN TEMPLATE CLASS a few years back, showing how to apply a template over a period of time. Hope it helps:

Well, I feel a bit stupid right now. I've actually seen those articles and used them a fair bit. Why did I not think of them?
Well, there is the perfect answer.
