Why don't someone make a netbook of Van Richten's known friends with Stats, Appearance, Background, Personality and Forbidden lore. I have researched almost all Ravenloft material and very few of VR's friends have stats or anything but a name. Here is a start for anyone up for the task.

I didn't forget Alanik I just didn't put him in the list because there are stats and so on for him in various books. As well as the following:

Most of VR's friends are dead, but wouldn't it be nice to know about them?
Depending on what timeline your playing in most of them or all of them could be alive.

oooooooooh....what about a campaign centered around trying to save people from the Van Richten curse? It would assume that the PC's had knowlege of the curse that VR does not (as per VR's guide to the Vistani), but if they did, it would be one way to keep them running about the demiplane like little mice - just drop one of VR's friends into the desired adventure.

They should all be in the VR guides, of course :-p

Now, in serious, Arturi Radanich in the Guide to Vistani.
Otelie Farringer either Ghosts or Demons and I think Gedlan Ironheart is in VRtG. But of course, this all speculation from what I remember when I read them.

I've been meaning to do exactly this for a long time now, since my campaign is set in a time when Van Richten is alive and going through friends like Kleenex.

I figure by introducing them early, I can make Bleak House particularly effective down the road.

But I haven't had time to really do the research I mean to do.

A good start, though is the Kargatane Catalog. Search for VR and click on "show me records related to Rudolph Van Richten". That'll give you page numbers and such. Also, Mangrum's timeline includes a lot of the info, if not all of it.

From the catalogue and off the top of my head, you're missing:
Samuel (another in Bleak House. don't remember much else about him - deceased)

Hildegren (a medium from VRG Ghosts)

Wow ...You have done your homework.
All the names I listed can be found in the various VR Guides, look in VR's journal entries, and Bleak House. I have also researched Kargatane Catalog and Mangrum's timeline. The timeline gives most of there death dates and tales bits about some of them. (at least an ideal to work with)
The Karagtane Catalog lists page #s and books they can be found in. None on my list have any stats, and only very sketchy background.

I was wanting to focus more on the characters I listed because of the VR journal entries the characters seem to be more the adventure/Hunter sort.
But I wouldn't mind knowing about all you have listed as well.

I can't believe stats, background and so on have never been made in a book for Arthur Sedgwick and Shauten.

I posted this request in the Community projects forum too if anyone is interested.

Why not a "Van Richten Society" book with all of the NPC stats, backgrounds, etc? Then, the book could include reference for each NPC to past Ravenloft projects. In each entry, it could describe the NPC's death, and then have a Dread Possibilities section where it can show how these NPCs might have survived. It might even have a small section on how they might be used in a campaign.

But who all is willing to write it?

I my self have writen up equipment, appearance, background, personality and forbidden lore for Corwin and Bantur. I have stats too but I play under another system so they are useless to you D20 people.

By my count thats 37 NPC's total that have been listed here. It would be nice to include the NPC's that have been writen too, but i'm not sure if thats possible.

So say 2 to 3 pages per NPC. Lets say 3 thats 111 pages and VR Guides run from 154 pages to 124 pages.
