Get a free RPG and make Jeff Grubb donate to charity!

Post by Steve Miller »

I hope there are no objections to plugging something non-Ravenloft related in any way, shape, or form. (Although it is an RPG dealing with demons, so maybe it isn't so far afield.)

Jeff Grubb is probably someone who doesn't need an introduction in these parts, so I'll skip it.

With the tragic events in New Orleans, Jeff wants to donate some bucks to the Red Cross to help out. He needs some motivation, though, and that's where this post comes in.

Jeff recently completed "Dyvil: First Edition," a roleplaying game designed and developed in less than an hour, just like "Steve Miller's 30-Minute Roleplaying Game" from last year. It'll be put out as a low-priced pdf toward the end of October, but in the meantime, we're giving it away to interested parties. And Jeff is going donate $1 for each of the first 500 that are given away to discrete email addresses (in other words, 500 copies to 500 different people) between now and October 15. The game will be sent to you as an email attachment. It's a 3.3MB file.

Here are the basics on "Dyvil: First Edition," which, unlike SM-30, not only features a complete, playable rules-light system and jokes but also includes a game setting and backstory!
The war between good and evil is over. Good won and Heaven rules on Earth. Evil has been smashed, Hell has been rent asunder, and Lucifer himself crystallized and shattered into a million tiny shards. That's the good news.

The bad news is that you're one of the survivors of Hell, a Dyvil who has escaped from your crumbling regime to the mortal world. Your task is to survive, rebuild, and rebel before Good destroys all.
If you want your free copy of "Dyvil: First Edition" (and prompt Jeff Grubb to donate up to $500 to hurricane relief), email me at nuelow@earthlink.net. Mention "Dyvil" in the header, and include your email address in the body of the message.

(No, this is not a d20 System product.)

An interesting proposition, but why do we have to ask for an (interesting) RPG to prompt him donate?

Anyway I want to thank you for notifying us, and mr. Jeff Grub for giving these out. :)

Are there 500 free copies of the PDF? Or anyone gets a free copy until Oct 15?

Because.

We're giving away 500 copies, because Jeff doesn't want to end up in the poor house because of this stunt. We MAY continue to give copies away after the 500 number has been reached... we'll make the decision when we reach the cut-off.

Thanks mr Miller!

Well, then I'll ask for my copy after 20 - 25 days. After all, I'm interested in this game, but perhaps some people are more interested and should have a better chance to get their free copy.

I think it sounds like a great idea for a game, sort of a counter to Demon: The Fallen.

Actually, I think it would be better if you asked now, of for no other reason to get us up to the 500 target number. (Or, at least, you should ask before Oct. 15 hits.)

Jeff referred to "The World of Dyvil" as 'The World of Shiny-ness' in his blog. :)

Send me another email, letting me know you need a second copy. Also, can you tell what time the email was sent? I need to follow up with others I sent it to around the same time.

A few outgoing copies have also been caught in spam filters, so if you've requested a copy in the past day or so and haven't gotten it yet, please check your spam filer for an email from nuelow@earthlink.net that is titled "Dyvil: First Edition attached."

If it isn't there, drop me another line, or PM me, and ask me to send it again.
