Son of an Incubus!

Post by Joël of the FoS »

The Gaz 5 hints that the Gentleman Caller recognized "no less then 5" of his children. I know we had that discussion once, but it was a while ago and I don't remember the final outcome of it.

Who are these 5 identified in the notes? And it implies there are more the those 5, so any guesses as to who they are, and why having that many children?

Well identified:

- Maloccio, son of Gabrielle Adrerre and the GC (born in 747 (the year, not in an airplane ;) ). From Evil Eye).

- Vigo Drakov (son of Drakov, Falkovnia), son of a half-vistani and a "nameless, faceless nobleman". Born in 705. Also, Vigo "disguises his fiendish deformities under a cloak of illusion" (Gaz 5 p 104)

Hinted:

- the Jongleur is a good candidate (Ivana Boritsi's bodyguard for nearly a decade). Unknown birthdate. Rumors make him the son of a vistani, thrown in the campfire when he was born. Today, he is showing little skin, because he is supposedly very badly burned. Is he also hiding some fiendish bat wings?
Azalin also added after this the cryptic comment "Intriguing. Is power drawn to power?"
(Gaz 4 p 28 )

Other guesses as to the GC's children? (they might be ladies, by the way)

One clue to all might be the vistani heritage?

Makes sense. Could the GC have been siring half-vistani for who-knows-how long because he knew one would eventually become the Dukkar?

Is Chezna half-vistana? In previous works she's a darkling.

Page reference for Beast of the Hills, please? I don't remember this one.

Indeed! Gaz5 p 15 say she's a vistani outcast, and The Awakening 2e said she is a darkling.

Gaz 1 p 110. Unlikely candidate to me. What hints you to think this creature might be the children of the GC?

Meanwhile, I've scanned again Gaz 3 and found no possible suspects fitting what we know so far.

Though Darklings are in essence Vistani outcasts, they committed crimes against their people and punished for it. If they were simply outcast they would be Mortu, but they did something far worse and got paid in kind.

Okay, so I'm voting No on Chezna, because she's pureblood.

I've combed through Gaz 1, without possible culprits fitting these loose criterias...

Back when I will have combed another book.

Not a child, per se, but I think I just stumbled on a possible GC reference in Gaz II. page 24. "In the weeks precedding Azalin's return, Tavelia [Kargat vamp and cleric of the Overseer] engaged in incresingly odd behavior, eventually announcing her upcoming marriage to a gentleman she refused to name. Tavelia then disappeared without a trace once Azalin returned."

curious...

(It's funny how the writers have conditioned us to jump at any reference to a "mysterious gentleman." :)

Interesting possibilities:

DM: "Suddenly a gentleman approaches"
Player 1: "Ah! I waste him with my crossbow!"

Lol, that must have been during the GC's mispent drunken youth. I'd hate to see the parents that spawned Gwydion *shudder*.

Which leads us to Isholde's true mission:

Isholde: At last, Gentleman Caller, I have you cornered. I can now fulfill my mission.

GC: Wait, we can talk about this. Um... gee, you look pretty.

Isholde: Shut up! The time has come for you to pay.

GC: Noooooo!

Isholde: By order of the court, you are ordered to pay full child support for your son, Gwydion. And also, you are ordered to pay visitation rights as well. By the way, I met Gwydion's mom. God, what were you thinking?

GC: Oh, that. What you see was.. I was very drunk and...

I might as well finally put this one to rest -- the mystery groom referenced here is Azalin. She was going to marry the king to become queen.
