IDW has a Ravenloft comic coming-out this month involving Dr. Mordenheim. But why make Mordenheim a woman?

Just to be clear, it's not the comic that made this change, it's one of many updates in the 5e Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft campaign setting. This comic is set in that version of the setting.
