Thuba Mleen

Thuba Mleen emerged though the mists in al-Kathos, a domain similar to his native land of Zakhara. In his short stay in al-Kathos, Thuba Mleen has already become a powerful man. Thuba Mleen isn't afraid of anyone in al-Kathos, and he is planning to bend the entire domain to his will. Thuba Mleen is served by his efreeti manservant, Shaazdeh Riaz.

Uritel of the Garden

Uritel emerged through the mists into Nossos. To say that Uritel's "world-plant" religion has not been well received in Nosos is understating things. Uritel does his best to bring some greenery to Nosos but he just isn't powerful enough a druid to make a difference. Uritel lives in a halfway house for men, and his nickname among the locals of Nosos is "mad Uritel", on account of his talk of "world plants" and "spelljammers".

Image Image

Wulgar Harrowsun

Wulgar emerged though the mists in Vorostokov. Wulgar hunts in the wilderness, and has built himself a small cabin. Wulgar hates Gregor Zolnik and Zolnik's boyarsky. Wulgar has brained several boyarsky under the cover of snow, leaving their frozen bodies to be found later. Gregor Zolnik does not know that Wulgar is responsible, and has ordered his boyarsky to retaliate against the villages he suspects might be involved in the killings.

Image Image

Rumeltocey

Rumeltocey emerged through the mists in Gundarak, but quickly decamped because of the stifling oppression there. She traveled to Kartakass, which was much to her preference because the people of Kartakass love singing, songs, and poetry. She settled in Harmonia where there is a temple of Milil called the 'Temple of Divine Song'. The teachings of Milil in Kartakass are somewhat different to what she learned in Faerun, especially the story of the Kakaphon of Discord, supposedly bastard brother to Milil. She works within the temple, her faith renewed. Romeltocey is working on a ballad based on local legend that she calls 'the tragedy of Zhone Clieous and the Sundered Heart'.

THUBA MLEEN, by the way, is taken from/inspired by Lord Dunsany's works.
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

Gilidarius

Gilidarius emerged through the mists in 736 BC in the domain of Daglan (then a domain in the core). He spent two years in Daglan on account of the borders being closed. When the opportunity presented itself he went to Valachan, and then on to Sithicus. Sithicus felt like a familiar place because Gilidarius was able to see Nuitari, the moon of dark magic. Cut off from Krynn, Gilidarius takes Nuitari in the sky as a sign that he should recreate the Order of High Sorcery in Sithicus - but the black robes only because Nuitari is the only moon. Gilidarius has set about building a Tower of High Sorcery in the Iron Hills, where Lord Soth and Azrael exercise little authority. He now has a handful of elven apprentices of evil disposition that have taken up the black robes and are assisting him in building the order. Gilidarius is friendly with the rebels of the Iron Hills, and the rebels even pay his apprentices for magical assistance, usually against the whichever unfortunate is the current the Warden of the Iron Hills. Gilidarius is happy with this arrangement because it brings in funds, and more importantly provides opportunities for his apprentices to gain practical magical experience.

Grey Agathena

Grey Agathena emerged from the mists in Kislova (Baroness of Blood and Book of Souls p. 77). After becoming oriented she discovered a hut in the forest that used to belong to an old hedge witch, long since dead. She settled into the hut and set about corrupting people by helping them with their problems. Since arriving in Kislova, Grey Agathena has found her powers mysteriously enhanced. Once per day Grey Agathena may grant a wish in exchange for a serious evil act. The wish is granted immediately but only takes effect after the evil act is committed. Grey Agathena cannot benefit from the wish herself, and only one wish is granted for any one person. Unlike other wishes in Ravenloft, these wishes always follow the intent of the wish rather than twisting the wish to harm the beneficiary, so Grey Agathena has a reputation of being reliable. It is highly unlikely that the Dark Powers will ever let Grey Agathena go - she faces powers checks on a regular basis.

Jalavier

Jalavier emerged through the mists in Dementlieu, and remained there as that was the perfect place for one of his talents. Taking up work teaching fencing to the very wealthy, Jalavier is now wealthy himself, and invited to all the best parties. Jalavier is also very good friends with Dominic d'Honaire, and is completely unaware that he is a mind-controlled obedient, and that he has killed for d'Honaire on numerous occasions. Whenever Jalavier has a flashback or random memory, Dominic d'Honaire simply orders him to forget it. Anyone that crosses Dominic d'Honaire may end up with Jalavier's rapier in their backs.

Javair

Javair emerged from the mists Hazlan, and has been traveling the core ever since. From time to time Javair finds mercenary work crushing peasant rebellions, and there are lots of peasant rebellions to crush. As of 740 BC Javair has been working in eastern Gundarak, assisting in the occupation and crushing the peasant rebellions. He hates Ardonk Szerieza because he is a peasant rebel that reminds Javair of his own past as a peasant. Javair intends to remain in Gundarak until the last peasant rebel is dead.

Image Image

Minivera

Minivera emerged from the mists in Lamordia, and quickly made a beeline to Dementlieu to join the high society there. An extremely powerful wizard, Minivera has gained the attention of the Fraternity of Shadows, who believe that Minivera will likely become a Darklord of her own domain. The Fraternity, still stung by the failure of the experiment with Count Wilhelm von Lovenhorst (Quoth the Raven #13 p.71) have taken the approach of action through inaction, watching Minivera much as 'the Watchers' (the Fraternity's term for what they believe controls the dread domains) watch them. Minivera has a palatial mansion just on the outskirts of Port-a-Lucine, and she has committed many evil acts that will likely see her fail a powers check soon. She has an apprentice of almost unearthly beauty whom she believes to be a normal human male named Pierre Macon (human male enlightened child wizard 5 charisma 18) who is actually a spy for the fraternity, created specifically by the Fraternity to get close to Minivera. In Minivera's home world she was just one powerful wizard among many and is delighted that, as far as she knows, she is the most powerful wizard in Dementlieu .

Tasup

Tasup emerged from the mists in Verbrek, and was set upon by werewolves within minutes of his arrival. Tasup is now an infected werewolf and is making the best of it. Because of Tasup's strength he is now in Alfred Timothy's inner circle, and although he doesn't believe the in Wolf God, he pays lip service to it. With his helm of teleportation Tasup can be found anywhere in Verbrek doing tasks for Alfred Timothy. Tasup especially enjoys infecting people with lycanthropy, and will often cross borders for an opportunity to do so.

'The War of the Flaenaess' is a much better name for the conflict/s than 'The Greyhawk Wars.'

Some of my pictures appear to have broken. Strangely they are still available at the source. Unfortunately I am not able to edit my post so I cannot find out what is going on or fix it.

Can someone set my permissions to allow editing of my posts?

Gave it a quick try, but couldn't easily figure out how to allow editing for non-mods. If you can find the "original" versions, I can edit in the links (send me a PM).

The ones that are broken seem to be from the "optimized" directory which doesn't seem to exist. the ones from the "original" directory are still there.

Example:
GOOD: http://arena.athas.org/uploads/default/ ... 0e00b6.PNG
BAD: http://arena.athas.org/uploads/default/ ... 33x500.PNG

If you need to see the text of the posts, instead of editting them, you can quote them...
"We're realistic heroes. We're not here to save the world, just nudge the world into a better place."

Tatyana Elnohar

Since emerging from the mists into the Dread Domains, Tatanya has lived an almost nomadic lifestyle. Being exceptionally beautiful, Tatanya is also an exceptional con-artist. Most of her schemes involve romance scams, where she tricks the mark into believing there is a chance of romance, then robbing the mark of his liquid wealth, which is then transferred into easily carried promissory notes that are common and redeemable in the more advanced domains. Heartbreaking on Krynn is immoral but of no consequence, but in the Dread Domains, such callous acts take a spiritual toll, and thus Tatanya has failed a Powers Check. Tatanya's charisma score has increased, and anyone speaking to Tatanya for at least one minute is subject to a charm person effect (Will negates). Shortly after manifesting this ability, Tatanya noticed that her tongue is now forked. Tatanya's forked tongue is not noticeable unless she sticks out her tongue, so she avoids doing that.

Ogut'jal

Ogut'jal emerged from the mists in the civilized domain of Dementlieu. Despite the good natured Ogut'jal's attempts at communication, he fell under immediate attack from townsfolk that could only see him as a monster. Ogut'jal fled through several unwelcoming domains until he reached Forlorn, where he remains for now. Ogut'jal is an egoist (psychometabolist) psion that uses his psionic abilities to hunt in the forests and valleys of Fornlorn. Usually Ogut'jal eats animals, but isn't above snacking on the occasional goblyn that attacks him. Being from Athas, nothing is worse to Ogut'jal than wasting food. If the PCs can overcome their prejudice over Ogut'jal's appearance, Ogut'jal can be a useful guide to Forlorn. Ogut'jal wants nothing but company in exchange. Sharing a meal with Ogut'jal may require a horror check if the PCs ask what kind of meat Ogut'jal has provided if the meat turns out to be goblyn and the PCs have already partaken of the meal. Ogut'jal himself is immune to horror checks relating to food.

Janus "Bad Penny" Winthwill

The mists swallowed up Janus Dark (Janus Prime's hostile second personality) when he brutally murdered a prostitute for being a 'slattern'. Janus emerged from the mists in the plains of Nova Vaasa near Kantora, where he currently resides. Janus Dark has become a cohort of crime boss Malken, while Janus Prime has fallen in with Sir Tristen Hiregaard. None of the parties have any idea that they are dealing with the alter egos of a single person. Janus Prime is looking for a solution to his dual personality problem, but fears rejection from Tristen Hiregaard if he confesses to his problem, which is ironic because Tristen Hiregaard is one of the few people capable of understanding. Janus Prime has heard rumor of The Apparatus which could split Janus Prime and Janus Dark into two separate beings along good/evil lines. The PCs might help Janus Prime find The Apparatus and separate the two personalities into different bodies, but if they do so a new domain and darklord will be created under Janus Dark, increasing the suffering in the world.

Vexter AKA Vextor, Master of Illusion

On one of his planar adventures, Vexter (who also answers to 'Vextor') foolishly entered a misty portal that proved to be a one way trip to the Dread Domains. The one-way misty portal led to a cave in Dementlieu, some miles away from the city of Port-a-Lucine. Vextor was fortunate to have some valuable gemstones on his person (standard practice when traveling the planes) that he was able to sell in Port-a-Lucine to live comfortably. With no way to get home and little else to do, he has become a student with a major of History and a minor in Arcane Lore (the subject of which he already knows much) at the University of Dementlieu. Vextor's status as an Outlander, in particular as an Outlander with experience in planar travel has attracted the interest of Lord Balfour de Casteelle, a senior member of the Fraternity of Shadows in addition to being a powerful illusionist. Lord Balfour de Casteelle questions Vextor on his planar travels, while also subtly grooming him for future membership in the Fraternity while teaching Vextor much about illusion magic.

Image Image

Boeddu

Boeddu entered the misty portal right after Vexter, but instead of arriving in Dementlieu, he ended up in Vechor. Walking through the ever-changing wilderness of Vechor, Boeddu wondered if he was going mad until some friendly locals explained the situation to him. Boeddu wrongly believes that Vexter is somewhere in Vechor, and he is constantly looking for him in the wilderness and asking after Vexter in the city of Abdok. Easan's prohibition on spellbook using wizards makes Boeddu suspect that Vexter may have been taken by Easan's men. If the PCs want to infiltrate Easan's palace, they could find no better ally than in Boeddu, who would inspect the dungeons in order to rescue his friend, Vexter.

Wulgar Harrowsun's rumored slaying of a weretiger brings up a good point; strangling, drowning, or suffocating are viable ways to do in a lycanthrope.

Thanks for the confirmation. I will continue posting cards on this post.

Mortos Ironbeard

Mortos suffers from an inferiority complex about his height due to living as a minority dwarf in a mixed community of tall humans, elves and half-elves. Seeing tall people with their smiling, smug faces provokes Mortos into a dark rage that begins as stalking a tall target, and ends always in murder. As an Egoist (Psychometabolist) Psion, Mortos knows psionic alter self, which he uses to impersonate tall people. Mortos' entry into the Dread Domains is unusual in that he fell asleep in his own bed, and woke up in an alleyway in the Docks District of Paridon. Naked and confused, Mortos spent his first 20 minutes in Paridon brutally assaulting a tall local man for his clothes and purse. Since arriving in Paridon, Mortos has learned about the doppelganger menace from the local newspapers and urban myths, which he truly believes. The existence of doppelgangers, which are not present on his homeworld, has further deepened his self hatred, for the doppelgangers are tall AND better impersonators than himself. Mortos is obsessed with the doppelgangers, and murders anyone that he suspects may be one. So far out of seven people that Mortos has murdered in Paridon, only one of the victim's corpses changed into doppelganger form. Mortos has failed powers checks and is on a Path of Corruption - namely, the dread doppelganger path of corruption. For every failed powers check, Mortos gains 1 HD of monstrous humanoid hit dice and will become a true dread doppelganger when he reaches 4 HD of monstrous humanoid. Even if Mortos becomes a dread doppelganger, he will never be accepted because he will be a clanless outsider marked for death.
