They both fail.
Result
Zilfer accidentally wins a few hands!
But he doesn't sweep the table.
Nobody seems to catch that he's not playing his best.
He learns nothing from them, not yet.
Flat out asking questions could work. Just post it, in that case.
If he has Information Gathering NWP, he can use that for subtle hints and prompts.

Also changed it to gaming as per suggestion.

Robbery... I see now what's the right side of the law.
Is Fild informed that there are more armed men in the room with them?
Also if told about the plan for the robbery, he will agree but he would warn them to not inform Branca they're robbing her clients. Insulting is not that rare even with the best clientele.

He is informed yes, Tom said that to everyone.
Tom just winked at Gertie when told the story hr didn't actually say his plan. Since they are siblings I figure they have a code for such things and like 5 minutes ago Tom has said that he has money problem so Fild can easily figure it out and decide if he wants to join.

Re: POVERO Campaign OOC
Is there a common room message board or notice board that we passed on the way in from town?

No public message board that he saw in this inn or on the streets nearby.
But if Alfonse asks around, he learns that new civic announcements are read aloud from printed sheets posted in the Civic District, not far south down the Bay Road. If one is looking for a job with the city gov't, go there.
And further down, closer to the warehouses and the waterline, he can find the Market Quarter. People looking for other work go there.
There are numerous shops and stalls there, including some booksellers and printers. Farmers come to the market there, so sometimes a man can hire on with a farmer at the market.
Most ordinary folks cannot read and write, so written messages are less often used to find work than word of mouth. But the printers and book merchants do use handbills and such, because they sell to and often hire literate people.

When one says "other work," do you mean just any work not involving the government or do you mean manual labor? Because I don't see Al going for the 2nd.ewancummins wrote:No public message board that he saw in this inn or on the streets nearby.

"Private sector" in today's parlance.
Most of the offered jobs may be drudgery, but the Market Quarter would also be a place where one might find merchants looking to recover stolen property, a magician who requires rare spell components to be obtained by whatever means, guys hawking treasure maps, etc.

Re: POVERO Campaign OOC
I have posted a new scene. Anyone who wanted to go to the Market District, or otherwise explore the city as a group, may be assumed to be present.
Assume that the party's siesta has given everyone ample time to rest, eat, drink-- even prepare spells if that hasn't been done.
Let me know if your PC is doing something different, someplace else.
