Shana gives him a cheery smile
"Don't worry, I'll be careful!"
She heads up the path as fast as she safely can. Once out of sight she pauses for a moment, swaying slightly and shimmering, a field of distortion forming around her for a moment, then fading [Mage Armour]
She then makes for the house of the Deadmaster, as quickly as she can

Inovidil blinks when the door opens and the smell get them. She covers her nose with a handkerchief and says:
"This smell...This door or was locked for a long time or are undead up there. Not a strange thing considering where we are... Anyway, If you are ready we can proceed as before, Rardi first, then me and Archedius."

Blaise stays a step or two behind Threan. "I'll keep my eyes open for magical wards or similar things," he says quietly. "Delthrin is a powerful necromancer -- I'm sure there'll be one or two things of that nature..."
OOC: Doin' the detect magic thang as they walk.

beneath Blackpillars
With Rardi in the lead, your little band of burglars mounts the narrow stone staircase and moves up the steps. The staircase runs about sixty or seventy feet up through the rock and then ends with a cramped landing and a closed wooden door.
The air here is very close. The screaming sound has faded away to a low moan,. It still sounds as it it is coming from someplace ahead- possibly beyond the door that you see in front of you.
A rapid examination of the door reveals no obvious mechanical traps or strange glyphs. In fact, the door appears to be unlocked.

on the topside of Fishgut Rock, the eastern end
The rescue party makes it way up the bluff and onto the plateau of the island. Up here, the fog is much thinner than below and one may see clearly enough by the light of the half moon. You can see that the island is like a table tilted on edge, the western end being at least a hundred feet higher than this, the eastern edge. In the distance, maybe a mile away at most, Blackpillars stands alone on the western cliffs. In between here and there is a patchwork of blasted fields, jagged rock outcroppings, and a sprawling village that nearly bisects the island from north to south.
The houses here are built differently than the stucco and timber buildings with tile roofs that you are used to seeing in the rest of Marsember. These buildings are all of them, save for a number of ramshackle wooden hutches, built of stone. The doors and windows are small and narrow, and ghostly pale lights shine from just a handful of portals scattered throughout the settlement. No one may be seen walking the streets, save for a few cats.
The fastest route to Blackpillars would be to walk straight through town. One could also add a few minutes to travel time by skirting the village and passing through the doubtful terrain to either side.

Alain returns the smile.ewancummins wrote: ''Oh, I suppose so. Or...maybe you could walk with me some nights? ''
Mara smiles innocently up at Alain.
"No, I am afraid that wouldn't be possible. You see, being a member of the watch limits my ability to pursue much else that my duties." He cant help but feel a bit of shame for lying to the girl. As a matter of fact he had no intention on staying with the watch after he and his friends were done with their business in town. Of course, that is assuming they are not drawn and quartered first for sticking their noses where they didn't belong.
"Perhaps I may see you around during my evening patrols. Given such a circumstance I couldn't help but be obligated by duty to see you home safe." Alain smiles at the young girl again.

''That's very kind of you. Oh, there's my house, just up ahead on the left side of the street.''BigBadQDaddy wrote:ewancummins wrote:

Mara points out a humble little plaster and board shack surrounded by larger, but still hardly imposing, structures.
Mara opens her door [a big board fastened to the shack wall with rope] and rolls her cart inside the darkened hutch.
''Are you coming in for a bit, or must you go along now, Alain?''

"We don't know what trouble the others may have gotten into," says Blaise, after the group quietly discusses the choices. "Let's take the direct path through the village, quickly and quietly. For all I know, Delthrin has surprises set up here -- traps, zombies, pies ... I like pies -- but we can't afford to waste time. Sound good to everyone?"ewancummins wrote:The fastest route to Blackpillars would be to walk straight through town. "Awright," Rardi whispers over the moaning, [/i]"I'll open tha door. Van or Arch, be ready with spells or arrows. Here we go.[/i]
The dwarf puts her hand on the door [handle?] and attempts to open it.
She is ready for trouble as the moaning and groaning are quite loud now, and she is positive in her beliefs that something is awry beyond the door.
Gripping her symbol, she casts Detect Evil once more.
Circle spell still in use.
