Realms of Dread Chapter Two
Inovidil looks once the bars and then back at Rardi.
"Great Mystra lead my spell!"
With that she waves her hands and pronounces some words of power and a lightingbolt gets to the kyton.
"Hold on Rardi!"
OOC> Empower lightingbolt as 9th

in the corridor of bloody chains-
CRACK!
The bars, nearby chains, and the kyton all alike are blasted with electricity as Ino's bolt arcs crazily through the intervening barrier and reaches the devil. The horrid fiend is transfixed by a massive charge. It disappears behind a veil of bluish white smoke.
After the bolt passes, air is heavy with the tang of hot metal. The smoke clears- and the devil has vanished. Only a scorch mark on the floor shows where it had stood, just moments before.
Saint Elmo's fire dances over the bars, the chains overhead, and over anything metal carried by the three of you. Every hair among the three of you stands on end.
The portcullis remains down and blocking your way out of the corridor and back to the access shaft.

Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

"Oh, I suppose." Alain says with an impressed tone. "Do you work directly for any notable healers?"
''Why, yes, I do. Master Othollon and Master Renfrax are both regular buyers of mine. Do you know them?''

Archedius seems a bit shaken. Feeling something loose in his glove he pulls it off and watches one of his fingernails fall out onto the ground followed by several drops of stinking fluid.
He wordlessly replaces the glove and walks over to Rardi to tend to her wounds.
*Archedus will use aid another on any heal checks Rardi or Inovidil choose to make as his heal skill is minimal*

"Don't worry, the price will be as right as you've ever seen it!"
Shana steps into the boat and spills some coins into the fisherman's hand... a handsome tip.
"there'll be more when we get back. that way"
Shana points in the direction we wish to go. She feels that giving directions along the way will be wiser than telling him the destination when he still has time to back out...

Inovidil still a bit shocked from the electricity looks at the scorch mark on the floor and smiles.
"Little witch ah! Ha. Mystra lead my spell and nothing could stop it!"
Then she turns and walking as steady as she could after the shock goes beside Rardi.
"How do you feel? Can you heal yourself? If no I can teleport us back to the inn, if yes then I'll try to bend the bars again and set us free."

the boat
The grizzled fisherman drinks in Shana with his eyes, rubs them as if waking from a dream, looks again, and says-
''You I'd carry for free!''
He looks down and quickly counts the coins.
''Ah, and this will get you all a ride and back again- unless you're wanting a long ocean voyage in my little old boat. Ha! So...where is it I am taking you?''
He makes ready for departure as he speaks, unfastening ropes and unfurling the sail. Once everyone is aboard, he pushes off using a long pole, and the small craft is borne out on the tide into the bay.

"Alain smiles and replies almost humbly. "No, I am afraid that I do not know of those gentlemen. I am actually rather new to the watch. Formally I am a writer by trade."ewancummins wrote:''Why, yes, I do. Master Othollon and Master Renfrax are both regular buyers of mine. Do you know them?''
Alain reluctantly falls into the roll of casual conversation, letting the leeches and strange events of the night float to the background of his thoughts, never quite realizing the potential hazards of being a social butterfly.
"You should really consider finding yourself a companion for you nightly duties. Or perhaps haunt areas which are more heavily watched by the militia. I was orphaned myself when I was very young, but fortunately was taken in by a noteworthy household, so I cannot fully understand what it must be like to provide for yourself. Regardless, you should be more careful."
"I be feelin fine, thanks. Twer only a scratch, honest. Ain' no foul beast gonna put down no Rardi Silverhelm! I be made o sterner stuffs! Now less get tha door open!" Rardi's attitude is really one of determination. Though she will be scarred for a while, her spirits aren't dazzled in the least.
She moves up to help the others. Her armor is pretty busted up but that doesn't seem to faze her either.

the passages beneath Blackpillars-
With help from her friends, Ino has bent the iron girll of the portcullis. There is now an opening wide enough for you to pass, if you go one at a time.
Someplace beyond the locked door at the other end of the hall, someone or something is screaming again. It's possible that the noise never stopped, but was simply drowned out by the racket of your recent fight.

''A companion? I used to walk with my friend Gatha, till the marsh-vapours carried her off, last summer. Since then, I've walked alone at night. I only had to abandon my cart once, when some men chased me, and came back to find it overturned and most of my catch lost.''BigBadQDaddy wrote:"You should really consider finding yourself a companion for you nightly duties. Mara frowns.
''That was bad. They didn't catch me, though. I ought to thank the Lady for that. ''
She rolls her cart in silence for a moment, before resuming speech-
''It's true what you say- that two are safer than one- but I'm not sure who I'd go along with at night. Most of the decent folks I know are sleeping by the time I'm on my way back from the marshes. There are the nightsoil men....but the smell is really bad.''
