Realms of Dread, Chapter Four
"Thank ye kindly'" replies the woman. She moves to the door and knocks on it. Once she gets a reply she opens it and passes through before closing the door behind her to turn and face Sergeant Talbot. She of course knows him, but asks the obvious question anyways.
"Pardon me, are you Sergeant Talbot? I was told you do the hiring for the militia. I am here to apply for a position. Let me introduce myself. I am Breana Carter, of the Fane of Myrkul. We are aware of the tragedy that has befallen the Magus Delthrin. That bein said, the Fane of Myrkul wants to offer the militia as well as the city as sigh of good faith any help it can. I am the appointed member of the Fane, and I would like to join your militia if you will have me."
She pauses, allowing Talbot to register her words than adds "I have no weapon to speak of, as it costs 1,000 gold to register my scythe and get a permit, sir. I have left it back at the Fane until a further date when I can
pay for the permit, you see."

Glim answers Ino,
''The owner's name is Polinar Kirin. I've never met him in person. I hear that he's a retired adventurer, and that he built all this with the treasure he found over the years. It might even be true. ''

the orphanage-
The liitle girl answers Blaise,
''My name is Filfaeril- just like the queen. ''
She half-smiles, her tears forgotten as she gazes glassily into Redman's eyes.
''I remember that there was a noise outside, and Hamnet got up, even though it was lights-out-and-in-bed-time, and he opened the window to see. That's when the bad ones came inside! There were three of them and they had scary red eyes and they talked all whispery- just like big spiders! I got scared so I hid under my blankets. When I peeked out, they were all gone!''
She wavers a bit, but then resumes speaking-
'' I think Emma saw it, too- and Orren.''
A young girl and a young boy in the gathering nod grimly, struggling to hold back tears.

Sergeant Talbot leans across his desk, smoothing back a loose strand of his long, iron-gray hair.
'' A priestess, eh? Can you work magic from your god?''

'' Got to know what you can do, before we figure out where to put you, if we hire you. I mean, there are a lot of jobs: medic- probably not your thing, I'm guessing- ordinary patrol work, special team, all that. ''

Breana give Talbot a smile at his mention about her being a medic.
"Ye've judged me well, Sergeant Talbot. Healing isn't really myarea of expertise and ordinary patrol work sounds rather disinteresting. Special patrol appeals to me. Have you anything in particular in mind? Anything to do with the undead, perhaps?"
Here she leans a bit forward, interested and eager now.

SGT Talbot's office-
'' Undead? Yes, as a matter of fact, that's just the sort of thing the team handles. Well, that and whatever else is really important and unusual. You need special permission from the Watch-Captain to join the team. If you like, I can arrange a meeting today. If he's not too busy, maybe even in just a little while.''

Breana sits back. Taking only a moment she replies "That is very acceptable, Sergeant Talbot. As you might well know, the great deity Myrkul gives me certain advantages over the undead. Our Fane has been given a bad rap in the past, but I am here to prove it wrong. Please make the necessary arrangements for me to meet this Watch-Captain. Thank you very much for your time, sir. Should I come back or wait?"

'''Just wait here. I'll go see about the Watch-Captain- it may be he has time for you now.''

Watch-Captain Rask's office
A gaunt man with graying hair sits behind a heavy wooden desk, scribbling away. He looks up as Breana enters. He adjusts the collar of his trim forest green tunic and coughs slightly as a prelude to speech.
''Alright, have a seat. I understand that you a priestesss of Myrkul. That's odd, though, I had thought your sect normally went out in public in ashes and wearing masks.''
