As I offered earlier, here are the ideas I came up with:Wolfglide wrote:I am also interested in seeing if I can think up some quantum mechanics themed formulae.
Complementarity
While many alchemists pursue their craft for the purpose of gaining knowledge, the form of Complementarity is based upon principles of limited knowledge. There are systems in the world which cannot have a complete description by the very laws of nature, and the formulae of Complementarity are used to bring the mechanics of these systems to human scale.
First Permutation: Positional Propagator
Upon quaffing this formula, the subject quickly blurs and delocalizes, losing certainty of position for mere moments before snapping back to a local form. The subject may choose to instantaneously teleport to an open space which can be reached by a path no longer than 45 feet. The path may trace through solid objects, but each 5 feet of solid matter counts as 10 feet of the path. During the instant over which the formula works, the subject actually occupies all possible spaces in range, so the subject becomes aware of all available spaces, even if it cannot otherwise sense them. As such, this potion can be used to detect nearby adjacent spaces through intervening barriers.
Second Permutation: Velocity Variegator
While under the effect of this formula, the subject's position and momentum cannot be simultaneously known. When the target moves of its own accord, its location becomes obscured, not by illusion or distortion of light, but by certainty of position breaking down. The effect grants total concealment, and is not counteracted by true seeing. If an external agency, such as an attack, misses the subject due to this concealment, the concealment reduces to partial (the agency has gained information about where the subject is not located). However, when an external agency exactly determines the position of the subject by physical means (an attack that hits, for example), the concealment effect ends. In response, the velocity of the subject becomes uncertain, allowing the subject to move up to half of its speed immediately. The subject automatically escapes grapples, webs, and other effects that would allow both its position and momentum to be determined.
Third Permutation: Draught of Duality
This potion must be consumed while unobserved. Once this is done, the imbiber divides into two identical beings, each of whom may take separate courses of action for the duration of the effect. However, if at any point either version of the imbiber would be observed by a being with an Intelligence score, both collapse into a single individual. At random, one of the two versions vanishes, ending the effect. If the duration of the effect expires while the two versions are in different locations, they also collapse into one individual. Only by coming together at the end of the duration can the two versions merge, allowing the imbiber to take two paths through spacetime to the same endpoint.
