Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

Note that Alfonse is carrying to give to her:
"Miss Elissa Holbin,
We are agents of your love, Richard, and we seek to unite you with him THIS EVENING. Be ready at eleven bells for our arrival, and we will take you to him that you may be married.
A sympathetic friend."

"Of course," Benn mutters, "It would be a damned shame if we ever knew what the hell was actually going on."

Has Fild seen this message?

So obviously, this is a lady Catherine and not Elissa? Just want to be sure about it

Not the woman from the portrait. Just some blonde in a fancy dress.

Half a dozen guards for her to go shopping. Is this common while they guard her or ... someone tipped them off?

His surprise is still quite plausible. It may be that detail was not read aloud to Fild.

Gertie remembers where Elisssa shops I presume.
Re: POVERO Campaign OOC
I assume Fild would have been involved in all parts of the planning.
I'll do the meeting, but I'll assume that any edits Alhoon wants to put in would have been discussed previously.

Re: POVERO Campaign OOC
Fild and Alhoon didn't expect the whole contingent of the house guards to be accompanying the girl in a shopping trip. The city is not under siege. I think it's more of a message from her father to Richard "HANDS OFF!".
Anyway, Fild called Alfonse "Erfonse" because they sound similar but are not, to preserve his identity. And yes, he's ready to defend Alfonse\get a royal beating.
