"Well, shall we toast your glorious accession to the Marsember Goon Squ... that is City Militia? To a long and glorious career!"

Shana takes another drink and relaxes back in the chair

A man steps into the inn, nearly tripping in his excitement. He has short, spiky red hair, slightly arched eyebrows, and a mischievous look of glee. He wears a dark green cloak over black leather armor. His green eyes dart back and forth across the inn's patrons until his gaze settles on your table.

He walks briskly toward you, alternately dodging and bumping other people. "Sorry ... excuse me ... I'm terribly sor -- oh, Hello! Another time, m'dear, perhaps ... pardon me ...! Friends! Shana! Inovidil! Alain! And ... Ezra's breath, Jamethon, is that you? Your wayward friend Blaise is delighted to see you!" He offers a warm embrace to those he knows and a polite nod to the strangers at the table.

"I had been researching the clan of Dilysnia for, well, important reasons," Blaise says, glancing sideways at the strangers, "and had set off to Marsember to learn more about Baron Dilysnia himself. But then I had horrible rumors of undead, goblins, a massive fire, and descriptions of people who were smack dab in the middle of it. And I thought, 'I know them!' And here I am! Fortune has been kind to me today, unlike last week at the gambling halls."

He orders some ale and introduces himself to those he hasn't met before. Then his voice takes a more serious tone. "So what IS going on here these days?"

Jamethon stands to greet Blaise.

''Ah it is good to see you. I'd feared you dead. I only wish I had better news to relate, but as you've asked...''

Jamethon sits down before continuing,

''Erza is gone. Jarryd was killed and transformed into one of the undead, and still roams free, to the best of my knowledge. Jarg I nearly killed myself, after he suddenly turned on me and tried to murder me. I don't know where he is now, if he even survived the wound I dealt him. Our old friend George Kleinholtz I haven't seen, but we found an old iron cup engraved with his name, in an abandoned farmhouse many miles north of here. That cup is the same kind the Purple Dragons carried an hundred years ago. It's an antique. Ino still has it, I believe.''

At the mention of Dilysnia, Moorkfort asks-

''You are looking for Baron Dilysnia? Do you mean Baron Bledryn Scoril? He once mentioned to me that his grandmother was a Dilysnia by birth. Blaise, do you think his mother's family could be somehow connected with the the famous Dilysnias of Borca? ''

Moorkroft laughs bitterly and adds,

''Of course, good luck finding out from him. He's dead now, killed in the fires.
The new lord of the city is a cousin of the lord that came before Scoril, as I understand it. I'm a little vague on the politics of the kingdom- there are too many families and a lot of titles involved. ''

"Blaise! So nice to see you again! Long time not seeing you! These are Rardi, Iroheart and Archedius. I have joined militia, I decided to help these people here. The others are going to join tomorrow, do you want to join too?"

Alain stands and holds out a hand to greet Blaise and gives a slight bow of his head. "It has been quite some time Monsieur. How have your travels fared?"

Blaise soberly listens to all the details from Jamethon. "Jarg? I'm ... surprised, and saddened. It sounds like it was a very grim affair for all of you. I'm sorry I wasn't able to help.

"Baron Bledryn Scoril? Hmm, possibly ... I hadn't heard that name precisely, but the rest of what you said matches up with my research in Candlekeep."

He says to Alain, "My travels have been very interesting." His tone gets lighter once more. "I've traveled to many places, investigating odd common links between this --" he glances at the new faces "-- land and the one that we're more familiar with. And the knowledge of the arcane...!" His eyes grow wide and he smiles broadly. "SOOO much more than I could have imagined. Back home, such knowledge was severely restricted or even nonexistent. It's a veritable treasure-trove for those with an interest in the arts."

He looks at Ino. "A militia? Really? It sounds so ... military?" He glances at Shana. "Well, if the lovely, fun-loving Shana has, ahem, enlisted, then that's good enough for me. What must I do?"

"Just one moment!" Alain says excitedly. He scrambles off to the table and shuffles through his pack. After a moment or two he produces a familiar book to those he has already shown on this day.
He turns and looks at Blaise, a somewhat knowing smile appearing at the corner of his mouth, and walks over to the man and hands him the book.
"I have been in the midst of similar studies." He stands back a step to give Blaise room, idly running his fingers through his blond hair. After a short while he says to Blaise, "I would love to hear what you have come up with."

Shana grins at his description of her and glances over at him

"Actually I haven't signed up just yet. I'm still... mulling it over. While I have been... closely associated... with militias in the past I've never actually been a member of one. Apparently, though, you have to be a member to bear arms."

She glances at Alain.

"and I have also become a little concerned about this place. Especially since this land is my home... or at least I thought it was..."

"Except Shana that is a bit concerned all the others here are already joined or will join militia tomorrow morning. We will go all together to meet Captain Rask, he will give you badges and will tell us what we should do."

Blaise scans the pages, then chuckles. "Ohhh, we have to talk at length, my friend! I need another drink. Here's what brought me to this area: While researching a book about Cormyrian royalty, I found references to the Dilynias -- an odd name, definitely not Cormyrian -- but it IS a well-known name back in Borca, and closely tied to the Church of Ezra. Curious coincidence, yes? I learned that the Cormyrian Dilysnias first arrived in Cormyr just over 100 years ago, emigrating from the north, the land of Damara, after having built their wealth from bloodstone mines -- or so the history says."

He takes a deep drink of ale. "Yes, I'd love to talk to this Baron Bledryn Scoril. If joining the militia will help me move about the area, I'm all for that. And I'd enjoy arresting someone, instead of the other way around. Not that, um, that's ever happened to me. Harumph." He shares a mock look of shock with Shana.

Shana grins back at Blaise

"poacher turning gamekeeper?

Oh, and don't be too cast down, Moorkroft. There's an excellent chance Ezra is just fine. This place has previous for deities being dead who are just fine elsewhere!"

Moorkroft's sour expression visibly brightens.

''Elsewhere? Please explain further, if you will, Shana.''

"well, you know I came from Faerun before I stumbled into the mists? Well it seemed that only a few eeks passed while I was in that realm: and yet what do I find when I arrive here? Torm's dead. Well he was fine when I left. Cyric's dead. Likewise, although that's no bad change. Mystra hasn't died and been reborn. Bhaal and Myrkul are alive. And all these things date from well before I entered the mists. No, this is a similar but different place to my home, and deities dead here, or alive, are not necessarily that way elsewhere."

Shana takes a casual swing of ale, feet still on the table, but those who know her well can tell she is more disturbed by this than she wishes to admit
