Paris and the Nightmare Court

Post by Le Noir Faineant »

Hi all,

Even though my Souragne campaign is still in its first third, I am already tinkering on a supposed sequel/new GE campaign.

Basically, I plan to set the events detailed in *The Nightmare Lands*
in France and the Netherlands.

The idea is still very rough, but I think I will stick to this concept.

Now, my questions are:

- Is there any good rpg sourcebook for Paris, preferrably covering the gaslight era in great detail?

- Has anyone ever tried this before and/or has some good suggestions to me?

- Apart from the usual rpg material, which addtional reading would you suggest?

From my rpg working table,

Yours,

Rafael

I'm tempted to suggest the Etherscope books... though I haven't looked through them in a while.

Also, weren't parts of Paris covered in one of the "Gothic Earth" PDFs stored here at the Fraternity?

:) Thank you! I would have totally forgotten about that! I now recall the Louvre being described there, and I'll indeed use the DaVinci hook from one of the netbooks as base for the party' first adventure.

As to Etherscope, I have heard often already that those books are excellent. I hope to get my hands on one soon.

I'll have to check the Etherscope books again to be certain... though I do distinctly recall some elements about the city of Paris being included.

I'll be checking for other sources as well. I'm intrigued by what you're setting up with this idea...

:) Thanks again. I had never DMed a dense GE campaign like that before, and thought that the entire NL story arc fits into a European setting pretty well.
The campaign will definitely start in Paris, though I am tempted to let the asylum parts of the adventure take place somewhere else, like in the Netherlands.

My current GE campaign is not extremely gothic, featuring many punk elements. NL is much more what I think players look for in a GE game, so I'll simply convert it. :)

Your current GE campaign sounds interesting. Is there anywhere online that I can learn more about it?

Yeah, please check here:

http://wayfarer.myfreeforum.org/forum25.php

It's my German message board about the ongoing game.

Part of it is in English, however, since I use passages from the Frat's Souragne Gaz, so you might get an idea what the campaign is about. :)
