Mystic from specific religious backgrounds
I was wondering if anyone uses specific religious backgrounds in their campaigns for their Mystics (For instance, if a character states that they are from, let's say, a Hindu background, do you work up anything on the spiritual forces that they are interacting with? Such as, which spiritual forces interact with which domains). I've been playing with the idea a little lately and I through I'd approach the subject here.

Since I have someone playing a character from a Roman Catholic background who will be taking a level in Spiritualist, I've worked up a list of Patron Saints who are devoted to aspects that correspond with the Mystic Domains. The PCs will be studying form the notes of a Mystic (A Sister of the Holy Cross) who foretold the PCs coming in her prophecies (gained from divinations).

Personally, I would have given the Animal domain to St. Francis of Assisi, after all, he was always very kind to animals.Blake_Alexander wrote: Animal - St. Vitus
Home is behind,
The world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread,
Through shadow,
To the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Mist and shadow,
Cloud and shade,
Hope shall fail,
All shall fade.

I actually considered that, but chose St. Vitus because it falls inside the element that he is Patron over, and moved St. Francis of Assisi to Summoning since it also seems to deal with Animals Primarily. I could have easily gone the other way and put Vitus over Summoning and St. Fransis of Assisi as Animals.Olly wrote:Personally, I would have given the Animal domain to St. Francis of Assisi, after all, he was always very kind to animals.Blake_Alexander wrote: Animal - St. Vitus
