Frankenstein and The Vampyre
I just caught a great documentary I wanted to tell y'all about, Frankenstein and The Vampyre: a Dark and Stormy Night (I caught it on CuriosityStream.) It was entirely about the writing contest that led Mary Shelley to write Frankenstein and John Pollidori to write The Vampyre. I had known the basic story of Frankenstein, how Byron, Percy Shelley, and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley were all, more or less, trapped in the house during a storm and decided to write ghost stories but I didn't know that modern Byronic vampire fiction came out of the same event. Definitely a good look at it and the figures involved. I had barely heard of Pollidori but without him we wouldn't have Strahd, which is unthinkable.
Dr. Cornelius Scipio, Rogue monster hunter, and owner of the Inn of the Drunken Wolf.
Rumors of my death are mildly exaggerated. I got better.
