The Vampire Count of Monte Cristo

Has anybody read this book? Thoughts?

I just received a copy about a month or more back and it's next on my reading list (unless I get distracted by something else; I have the Big Book of the Continental Op arriving shortly: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/346 ... inental-op). As The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite stories (up there with Frankenstein; or, the Modern Prometheus), I'm always up for a reimaging, or, potentially fresh take. Combine that with vampires and I'm...intrigued. To say the least.
"A very piteous thing it was to see such a quantity of dead bodies, and such an outpouring of blood - that is, if they had not been enemies of the Christian faith."

- Jean Pierre Sarrasin, "The Memoirs of the Lord of Joinville"
