Church of the Morning Lord.

Post by Epically »

So the longest description I could find of the church was actually here surprisingly and not Gazetteer I, but neither describe what their clerics are called. Anyone got any canon or any other names they made for their campaign? For example, if I'm not mistaken the clerics of Ezra are called Wardens.

I'd go look at the Faiths & Pantheons Forgotten Realms book or just glance at the Lathander wiki page.

The only canon titles are the high priest's, which is Harbinger of the Rosy Dawn, and Heralds of Dawn, which are members of the Dawnslayers. Most information on the Cult of the Morninglord is in the Gazetteer I and Vampire of the Mists.

I think there are some references in Curse of Strahd as well.

From the Lathander wiki article:

"Novices in the Lathanderian faith were called the Awakened, while clerics were known as Dawnbringers. The full priests took a new name in his service when they were ready to signify that Lathander personally recognized and accepted them. This new name could either be used instead of their old name or simply used only when addressing other Dawnbringers and when in solitary prayer. Other titles included (in ascending order): Dawngreeter, Dawnlord, High Dawnlord, and Dawnmaster, while an elite cleric was referred to as a Morninglord. All followers were required to be of neutral to good alignment"

The named NPC priests of the Morninglord in Ravenloft seem to mostly go by Brother or Father.
