Remembrance day
With the occasion of the Remembrance day today (R.I.P. soldiers of the Entente and Central Powers) I would like to inquire if ScS "The Great War Project" for Gothic Earth is still around.

Re: Remembrance day
Thanks a bunchload. IMO it was a splendid piece of work!
I wanted to ask you BTW, aside of the Drain (that I don't use in any case) what is the casting time for spells? 1 full round for each spell level or the normal casting time?
I always found the 1 full round/caster level too restricting.

Re: Remembrance day
I'm glad you like it, Alhoon.
I got to admit, its a pretty rough work.
For casting time, it is unchanged from normal 3rd edition D&D magic spells. I felt the same way about magic in Red Death - it was a good idea to make magic hard to use, but impractical to cast any kind of spell in anything resembling a combat scene.

Re: Remembrance day
Yeah, made spellcasting classes totally unplayable.
Instead of the drain, I was thinking of a kind of corruption/sanity system. If you use a little bit of magic, you keep your sanity and stay more or less OK physically for years. If you go over the top, well, magic comes to collect what it's due and you become a... thing.
Of course, I have no idea how that could be implemented in a fun, playable and simple way. Perhaps some variation of the madness rules of Wheel of time RPG.
You get some points each time you cast a spell and you are redeemed of some each week depending on what you do. If you cross a treshold, it starts altering your physique or mentality. If you cross another one, it grows worse, etc.
