Back to Basics Chapter 1: Where are we ?

[Lord Skybolt]

At the mouth of the mine with Sara in the lead holding a torch* to light the way in she leads the party through the opening of the cave . The mine entrance at first allows the party to move into it two abreast but after about 40 feet the passage turns west and narrows to one only about 5 feet wide .

[VAN]

Sara points the narrow path and says:
"We must form a line from now and then, I will go first."

The professor nervously nods in acceptance. Despite his uncertainty he felt the old familiar shiver of excitement. The feeling he got when exploring a new archaeology site. Holding his lantern high, he follows the others.

Alia follws, crossbow loaded but pointing at the ceiling

Dalorna takes her place in the middle of the line.

[Lord Skybolt]

After moving along the passage for only 10 feet a passage there going towards the Northwest .
The passage the party is on goes farther about 30 more feet before seeming to go down an incline . About 10 feet before reaching this incline though there is another side passage that goes to the north .

Dalorna sketches out a simple map as she walks, pausing when necessary.
It's nothing more than a few hastily scrawled lines on a scrap of parchment, but it might come in handy.

''Let's check out these side passages- the northwest one first...''

[VAN]

Sara nods and heads Northwest.

Alia follows, looking excited, covering the passages they are not taking as she passes them, but half absently as if she is already composing the ballad

As the party proceeds through the NW passage the party hears something moving ahead of them seeming to move away from them as they come down the corridor .

[Roofdrak]

Isidar's grip tightens on her hammer and looks at her companions to see if they hear the same noise.

[VAN]

"I hear something, but seems to move away for us."

[Lord Skybolt]

"What kind of worm is that ?"Arnulf screeches out . Pointing out something* slightly up on the wall above Isidar waiting for something as he comes around the corner with the group .




*This worm like monster has a body as long a man is tall, with four tentacle a little longer than human forearms . The tentacles, located on its head along either side of its jaws, are segmented , as is the body itself .

Dalorna starts when she sees the rubbery, unwholesome creature.

''A grick- move away from it, now! It's dangerous.''
