House of Bones

Post by High Priest Mikhal »

For a truly creepy--and somewhat gory--movie chock full of ideas on how a living wall can be used on a larger scale (imagine a living wall-type phantasmagorum) and what sorts of ghastly things one would find if they broke through a living wall, see House of Bones. The premise is that the first owner pursued a twisted form of immortality by turning his house into a living being itself by entombing his slaves in its walls. It works and the next owner soon begins looking for "fresh meat" to feed the house. Then the next owner, then the next, on until the house is abandoned and left to starve for fifty years. A group of ghost hunters on a show that's being threatened with cancellation, decides to investigate--with the arrogant host forced to go on-site for once. Things start slowly, but then build nice and steady with all the subtle incongruities of a haunted house gone truly bad. All in all worth a rental, or stream on Netflix.
