The Ring

The Changeling

Poltergeist

Jeepers Creepers

Event Horizon

Arachnophobia (the arachnophobes, like me, will peep through their fingers -- everyone else will find it funny)

White Zombie

I Walked With A Zombie (These last two are Haitian voodoo zombies, not Romero's flesh-eaters)

To my eternal shame as a horror fan, I must admit I didn't know there was movie adaptation. I'll put it at the top of my Netflix queue right now.
It's a Stuart Gordon adaptation of a Lovecraft story with Combs and Crampton as the leads, so you'll probably like it.

Be on the lookout for Crampton in leather bondage gear... frrrr... (although I somehow doubt Lovecraft mentioned anything about leather bondage gear...)

Currently being remade, BTW.

For another vampire flick from that decade (non-comedy), there's always Near Dark.

Night of the Creeps (campy, but good fun).

Be still my f*ckin' heart.

I won't pretend the original film was a true cinematic classic but I really can't see who they'd cast who'd be as fun as Roddy McDowall was.

Oh, it'll suck of course.

The only question is how many people from the cast of "Glee" will end up on it.

I'm a big zombie movie fan myself. People have already mentioned Night of the Living Dead, but here are a few others.

Return of the Living Dead: A lot funnier than most zombie movies, and great if your friends are into punk music.

Dellamorte Dellamore (aka Cemetery Man): Very surreal Italian zombie movie.

Zombi 2 (aka Zombie): Another Italian zombie film, this was one of the first very gory zombie movies. Also, a zombie fights a shark.

Let Sleeping Corpses Lie: Very underrated. The sounds the zombies make were based on the director's father's death rattle. Very unsettling + cool 70s soundtrack.

Wild Zero: Japanese rockabilly zombie movie. Comes with its own drinking game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Zero#Drinking_game

Also I'm seconding pretty much everything Zettaijin recommended.

Not to mention very quotable dialogue!!!

"This isn't a costume, it's a way of life!"
"Put some clothes on and show some respect for the dead!"

Zombi 2 (aka Zombie): Another Italian zombie film, this was one of the first very gory zombie movies. Also, a zombie fights a shark.
Male lead: "Zombies everywhere! What can we do?"

Tisa Farrow: *stares blankly into the camera for 2 minutes as if the proverbial deer in the headlights*

Male lead: "OK, that's it, if she's supposed to be the brains of this operation we're screwed..."
Let Sleeping Corpses Lie: Very underrated. The sounds the zombies make were based on the director's father's death rattle. Very unsettling + cool 70s soundtrack.
Very pessimistic movie, that one.
Wild Zero: Japanese rockabilly zombie movie. Comes with its own drinking game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Zero#Drinking_game
"Ace! Love has no borders, nationalities, or genders!"

As well you should! Especially my reccomendations in the "so bad they're good" thread. Shaitani Dracula should be on EVERYONE's Halloween viewing list.
