Mysterious Strahd -- Anybody recognize this pic?

Post by LadySoth »

I found this image of Strahd online but unfortunately the guy who posted it didn't know who the artist was or what book this pic might have been from.

Does anybody recognize this fantasy art pic, either who the artist is or what book it was from?

Honestly saying, he does look exactly like Sthrad. First thing, he lack pointed ears. There is also iteresting and curious thing about his fingers (red shade on them).

Answering your question, LadySoth, I don't know who may be it's creator and where it come from.

Err... huh? What's a SH HH?
Man lives in the sunlit world
Of what he believes to be reality.
But, there is, unseen by most, an underworld,
A place that is just as real,
But not as brightly lit.....
A DARKSIDE.

Looks a bit like he's modeled on actor Ben Cross, from back when Cross was playing Barnabas Collins in the short-lived Dark Shadows revival.

My thoughts exactly.

I dig it. I like the little collar thing, though there is a DANGEROUS lack of dramatic red cape.

Everyone needs a hobby, and it's probably better for him than chasing after every other reincarnation of his lost love.

Yes, there are some differences, in costume/ears etc. but still a pretty close match, could just be an individual artist's interpretation of the character tho.

That's exactly how I picture Strahd- except for a little bit more muscular. He was a warrior after all.

Good. Never forget who you belong to, woman. :soth:
 Lady Soth belongs only to herself, not to any pretender masquerading as her beloved dread knight  and now back to the thread . . .

REGARDLESS IF THIS IS STRAHD OR NOT, DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE THE PICTURE CAME FROM OR WHO THE ARTIST IS? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED, THANKS!

In all fairness, Strahd is a pretty close match for the archetypal vampire image. Almost any "classic" vampire is likely to look a bit like him. Or, to be more accurate, like "a Dracula."

Yeah, most likely, this was some random vampire image (probably at least little inspired by Cross/Barnabas) the someone decided to use as Strahd in their campaign and just renamed it. It's gonna be tough to find the source...
