I'm a bit confused, though. In the talk about the new Ravenloft novel, the character went from this new domain of Riverbend to Kartakass. How did that happen? Did the novel give the impression that Riverbend was just the Shadowfell reflection of Earth? If the "Domains of Dread" exist in th...

Talk about disappointing. Scratch that. Sounds like a festering ball of crap to me. Yep, I'll be using my own version. I'm certainly not going to use this Shadowfell garbage.

Yeah, you already had Wizards getting lynched. Can't imagine the peasants in Ravenloft are very adept at telling the differences between a Wizard and a Warlock. And even if they could tell the difference... don't think they'd care. :soth:

I haven't seen anything that doesn't state it's canon, but likewise, I haven't seen anything that states it is. And given the nature of the book, I see no reason to believe it is. It was designed as a somewhat generic adventure which could be inserted into any campaign setting. Its very nature shoul...

I'm not arguing that a person, FoS, etc, must use whatever the official canon is. I'm just pointing out that A) EtCR isn't official canon, and B) That future official canon isn't beholden to it.

This is a murky distinction though. Again, the EtCR handling of Strahd* That's not a valid comparison, though, as that has no bearing on canon. That was a one-off reimagining of an old adventure for 3E rules, not a revamped campaign setting book. It wasn't intended as a continuation of the older Ra...

Pirate Strahd is here to stay, for better or for worse. You never know. Just because they made him look like that in EtCR, it doesn't mean it's written in stone and that they can never change him back (For an example of that, compare Elminster in 2E, Elminster in 3E, and Elminster in 4E). But we'll...

I'm excited and queasy about it at the same time. On the one hand, I think great things can be done with Ravenloft using the 4E rules set. On the other hand... Forgotten Realms... :?

Just to clarify the above based on a statement made at GenCon: By "new Domains of Dread," they mean new domains, not a new version of the 2E core book. The October issue of Dragon will introduce an all new domain (and darklord), and will establish what that means in 4E . Any chance you kn...
