Banemaw
I don't like Elena Faith-Hold. I think the religious persecution idea is much better applied in G'henna. So for awhile now, I have been using this idea. The Dark Powers made Banemaw real. What better way to introduce the dragon that to fly in out of the blue, and devour the false Paladin. The Shadow...

Re: Any love for Kalidnay here?
I really appreciate the premise of it. When TSR owned the game, Ravenloft stole pieces of everything. One could say the Burning Peaks were a Planescape cluster. I truly regret Dark Sun not getting the 3rd/3.5 treatment. There were several Dragon magazines and Dungeon magazines that dealt with Dark ...

Ok. Well it was worth a try haha. I'm going to use it in my game. To each their own.

Definitely. I also would hazard a guess that the cultists involved have the belief that they will be rewarded by the Cosmic forces or at the least, spared. I don't think that gets much attention in Lovecraft's work, but they are trying to open those doors for power. Not just for annihilation.

Yes! Coming from Athas, it would be a breeze to live and deal with Wererats. I imagine his ring of shooting stars helps in combatting those as well. This thread is great!

Re: African Cluster.
Never too late! I feel the same way about the represtation of non-european domains. I intend on leaving the Wildlands in the cluster it already exists in, and simply have my own be an addition. I'm fairly proud of what I have thusfar, I hope that most folks will enjoy it. I'm almost ready to submit ...

The Scattered Lotus
I have been reading a lot of posts in the Pathfinder in Ravenloft thread. I came upon the discussion about culture and it's use in Ravenloft. I'm of the opinion, that the Scattered Lotus cluster should be totally fleshed out and added to the netbook cannon. Because of the lack of details about the A...

Re: Van Richten's guide to Eldritch horror.
Wolfglide, exactly. The fact that the outer planes have infinite space on each layer of each plane just makes the possibilities totally endless. One could completely ignore the Lovecraftian elements of D&D. I'm a huge fan of Lovecraft, however, so I creep Cosmic horror into my Gothic horror on t...

Re: Van Richten's guide to Eldritch horror.
There was a entry in the Far Realm section of the Manual of the Planes about a group of Wizards that created an outpost there. They ended up with spiders in their brains, literally. Even with magic and armed with arcane knowledge, there are things beyond the comprehension of a mortal mind.

Re: Races of Dark Fantasy; Shaking up the D&D Paradigms
All very interesting suggestions! I myself am just as guilty as anyone about focusing far too much attention on the different human cultures in Ravenloft.

I'm almost finished with all the basic information for the cluster, going to have all the requisite information, and be illustrated as well! I want to make sure this ends up in the proper place, can anyone help me with that?

Re: Tsien Chiang redeemed?
I have always thought that the lack of any real population was her curse. She wields immense power, but very seldom has a chance to use it. Isolation is her curse.
