Re: Mistmaster's Errata QtR 26
I have realized I have made at least 2 conspiquous omissions in my QtR articles, mea culpa. First one is in Lazendrak Article; At the Paragraph on The Organizations, page 143 you find the Bloodkinghts, I omitted the dread possibility "The Shadow of Kanchelsis:the Order has been infiltrated by ...

Re: railroad into the mists
It works, but I'd say the train would be a very recent invention of the Thoth clergy. The idea is a stretch for a 'canonical' FR game. It's really pushing the envelope for technology. Could be fun, though. The railway concept works much more readily in Eberron, which already has (magic) trains. It ...

Re: railroad into the mists
My game here has run the other way; PCs started in Ravenloft and ended up ripping a portal into Faerun. They have been trying to get back to Ravenloft. Most of them, anyway. Mulhorand has/had steam engines. I looked it up in my copy of Old Empires. The Mulhorandis developed 'pressure engines' and s...

Re: railroad into the mists
What about a literal railroad into the Mists? Trains have disappeared along a certain section of tracks. No derailment, no signs of brigand attack. Just gone. The railway owners suspect magic at work and hire the party to ride along and investigate. The players went into it knowing some agency was ...

Re: Possessed Puppets
I would probably just deny them the polymorph. If that weakens them too much for your purposes, give them a compensating ability drawn from carrionettes or doll golems. And I'd say the dolls are now their bodies. Destroy the doll, the imp is destroyed, or at the least becomes a malign but powerless...

Re: A "Reformed" Gabrielle Aderre
The fertility cult thing is actually a really good idea, given the passionate nature assigned to the archetypical Invidian personality. Although, fabricating a whole cult from scratch might seem a bit sudden, given all the things Gabby has going on with ruling the domain and such. She's also viewed...

Re: A "Reformed" Gabrielle Aderre
Okay, assuming you mean Matton and Ardonk as the two closest lovers she sent away, then that problem is resolved. The biggest thing she could do against the Falkovnians is probably label them as a hostile foreign power that encouraged Malocchio's rise as a would-be puppet leader. Launching an attac...

Re: Possessed Puppets
Well, if they're possessing the dolls, wouldn't you just use something like an animated object stats for the body and then use the mental and spell-like abilities of the fiend until the material body is destroyed, upon which the fiend's body would flop out? Kind of like a scaled down version of the...

Re: Do you have any ideas for a Falkovnian Political Police?
It's already present in NeoTiamat's version. A big reason why I am using it. Another thing I might use is a "cult of personality" around Drakov. Giant statues and murals of him everywhere. The political message is without Drakov the domain would fall to chaos and the undead menace would o...

Re: Do you have any ideas for a Falkovnian Political Police?
I might well use his 3 different types of police idea. The Falkpolizei would definitely be the most powerful and widely feared.Mistmaster wrote:NeoTiamat take on Falkovnia (QtR 22) give us the Falkpolizei which has exactly that role.

Re: A "Reformed" Gabrielle Aderre
All right, gotcha. So for this discussion, it might be useful to get what assumptions are being made about Gabby, her relations, and the world around her. The first question I'd have is what has happened with Lucita and the situation of her uncertain father. Was it Matton or Ardonk? Did they find o...

Re: Do you have any ideas for a Falkovnian Political Police?

The primary role of the Feldgendarmerie is to enforce discipline on the rank and file soldiers of the state. They ...

Re: Do you have any ideas for a Falkovnian Political Police?
I see secret police as scary and I want the party paranoid. I want a sense that they aren't sure who they can trust. So how do you think I should do that? At minimum, I would make it clear that the Ministry has intel on the party, and it's increasing all the time. Don't make them roll to notice som...

Re: A "Reformed" Gabrielle Aderre
Well, the first thing that I could think of playing up her good girl image is dealing with the plight of the Gundarakites, although that could cause some controversy on its own both within Invidia and Barovia. She might definitely want to paint herself as a revolutionary hero against the tyrannical...
