The only true negative energy plane natives I can think of are the xeg-yi. Basically, they are just negative energy elementals, and are also the counterparts to the positive energy xeg-ya (yin and yang, basically). I can't remember if they every got an official 3e update or not. And personally, I do...

You know me, Neo, my pen and paper group was all about Planescape and our own homebrew campaign world, for the most part. We had very limited Ravenloft experience, and most of that didn't really involve an overarching plot or re-occurring villain. That being said, here's what riles my players up. Ou...

Honestly the only good comic book adaption I have seen (other than recent developments on Batman) actually came from the animated version of Doctor Strange -- a little feature which was refreshingly good. Glad to see that I'm not the only fan of the good Doctor and the surprisingly good animated mo...

I'm sticking to 3.5 for the duration of my gaming days, as far as I can tell. While I liked some of the ideas for 4e as they were initially presented, I don't like the majority of the rules when you look at the finished product. For me, 4e just isn't a good enough system for me to just throw out 3rd...

Well, just about all of the Sci-Fi Channel's "movie of the week" productions are complete and utter garbage. It makes you sick to know that some of D&D's greatest monsters (well, myth's greatest, I guess) are reduced to films such as "Manticore", "Basilisk", or even...

I've seen quite a few people clamoring for the guy from Dr. Who (can't remember his name) to be cast as the Riddler. Not a fan of the show, so I don't know the actor well enough to voice an opinion on it myself. Which one? There's like ten! :P Do you mean David Tennant? He has expressed interest in...

I'm not sure how well it will translate, to be honest. Having recently read the story, I just don't think it will work well on screen (even Alan Moore said it wouldn't and wasn't meant to). But of course, the story was so good that I'm going to go watch it. Absolutely outstanding.

I enjoyed it, as well (I've seen it twice, now). I really do think that it was the best film Joker...well, ever. I also believe that it was the first time we've seen just how brilliant the Joker really is (in film, at least). He had backup plans for everything, it seemed (especially considering that...

So, to kill a character with 200 hp I have to deal 300 damage, and if he's at -99 and anyone casts any cure spell on him he goes back to positive??? I assume dead characters mean less books sold, no other possible reason... Ah, and it doesn't apply to monsters: after all, they didn't pay anything t...

Basic Monster Design Rule 1: Monsters are not players. They are around only for 1-10 rounds, with an average of 5. They need to be able to do their A-material right away. If they have more than 3 or 4 abilities the less interesting ones won't be used. Monster need to show up, use their cool identif...

Hmm. Since pit fiends are now only surpassed by the Lords of the Nine, that means the previous nobles (who were in between the Lords and pit fiends) no longer exist, right? If that's the case, I wonder if that is why Glasya was elevated to a Lord by the writers at WotC in the Fiendish Codex. Meaning...

I'll admit that I find the lack of SLA's a bit disturbing, but this pit fiend isn't helpless as presented. Well, I'll take that back, it might not be helpless. Without a look at appropriate characters that such a monster is supposed to be a challenge for and a sample combat, it's hard to determine a...

Neat. Too bad it's winter so no one will want to be outside to look at the stars. That's my problem. I bought my wife a telescope for Christmas, and we haven't braved the cold a single time to use it. Of course, now we have this happening, and a month or so ago, Mars was at its brightest in the nig...

Yeah. Forgotten Relams jumps 94 years into the future for 4e. Mystra is killed, the Spellplague comes, magic users go mad, and almost everything changes. Then, fast forward almost 100 years. The whole "points of light" concept will apply because many of the smaller places (and a few bigger...
