Re: Transposition by Angel?
Note that the Twisting isn't always bad. There are cases when it's actually been beneficial, like the young woman born with shriveled, non-functional bat wings (pre-3E caliban?) who, thanks to the Twisting, can fly now. Or the gentle-natured parasitic twin who'd been helplessly watching its sibling'...

Re: Transposition by Angel?
I could imagine a celestial entity doing such a thing, given a willing Innocent host who knows what's going on and accepts the "blessing". I could also picture such a transposition occurring if a living body is, in some irreversible way, emptied of its original consciousness -- say, extrac...

Re: Surreal / Psychological Horror
The Doppelganger netbook plays around with psychological horror a lot. Heck, doppelgangers play around with psychological horror a lot, in-universe: it's their biggest strategic asset.

Re: Fanmade adventures in Timor?
One of the NPCs from the Doppelganger netbook, Penelope, has an unknowing connection to Timor. It's not an adventure, but at least it's a potential adventure hook.

Re: Sudden sinkhole
Possibly the in-game Fraternity of Shadows is experimenting with ways to disrupt the structure of the Land, to learn more about how its terrain is brought into being. They're curious about that sort of thing, and wouldn't be unduly worried about the hazards such holes in reality might pose to others...

Re: The "Real" False Gods of Ravenloft
The Eternal Order is an intentionally false syncretic mishmash of pre-existing faiths and superstitions. The closest thing it has canonically is Lowellyn Dachine, and he supposedly became the darklord of Necropolis known as Death. Actually, the Grim Harvest modules portray the clerics of the EO as ...

The monsters rumored to be creeping under Darkon?
Something gone wrong with the fabric of the landscape, perhaps. Like how Sithicus started to fall apart when Soth turned into a mirror-gazing couch potato.

Re: Toben the Many? o.O'
There's a difference between having an agenda and having plans, IMO. The GC has an agenda -- an over-arching goal he's been working towards -- while Toben is just out to screw around with people for kicks. That doesn't mean he can't engineer some of those kicks to unfold over the long term; it just ...

Re: Toben the Many? o.O'
Van Richten's Arsenal also exists in-universe, although it may not have been as big a seller as the more specific monster-guides. Note that copyright laws probably don't exist in the Ravenloft setting, or at least wouldn't be enforceable on anything but a national level. So there's nothing to stop ...

If he hadn't known of him previously, he certainly found out about the guy as soon as the W-F twins' Walking Dead guide hit the bookstores.High Priest Mikhal wrote:But I have a question: does Azalin even know of Toben the Many?

Re: Toben the Many? o.O'
I can think of a few reasons being laying low from Azalin since he apparently fears him, though to what end I do not know. Also that if he were to control everyone he'd be very bored with himself after awhile. The reason they provided IIRC is... he doesn't care to do that. He just wants to spread m...

Re: Hazlik and the spellplague- did he win?
I would say that Azalin did love his kingdom, or at least was loyal to them. He has suffered much trying to get back, not just because of the comfort of being king, since he was made king of Darkon. On the other hand, Azalin's knowledge that Darkon is in fact "fake" kinda spoils his relat...

Re: Hazlik and the spellplague- did he win?
To a previous poster, I think Strahd loves Tatyana on some level Thing is, he barely knew her. His brother brought her to court, and he immediately coveted her. It was never mutual in any way. He just lusted after her, and was jealous that he'd frittered his years away on war and governing, while h...

Re: Hazlik and the spellplague- did he win?
Eleni doesn't need to come back to torment Hazlik, because she can live on in his nightmares. A dream-Eleni would be as effective, if not more so, at tormenting him, because as a projection of his own mind, she can really hit him where it hurts, and he can't get away from her. This is the hook of H...

Re: High OR/monster PCs?
Chances are good that a gnoll would be mistaken for some kind of Broken One in Ravenloft. That's (marginally) better than being deemed a lycanthrope -- Broken Ones are more likely to be objects of pity than werebeasts in their hybrid forms, and aren't necessarily man-eaters -- but it would probably ...
