Re: Auditory Inspiration - Music and sounds with Ravenloft f
Anyone have any good soundtracks or artists for Souragne? The OST of The Serpent and the Rainbow is an obvious one, but long OOP without an MP3 version. Here are some ambiences that might fit: http://horror.ambient-mixer.com/creepy-jungle-at-night http://horror.ambient-mixer.com/cursed-jungle http:...

Re: Accents and Dialects for a game
You can use Vocaroo, which is specifically built to share voice messages publicly. Or Soundcloud.

Re: Accents and Dialects for a game
For Mordent, just use BBC British. It is what most people instantly recognize as English accent and can much quicker place then Cornish and other lesser known rural dialects.

Re: Greenbound summoning on Ravenloft?
The very first step in 3.5 I always did as a DM was to sit down with the players and agree on power level and available crunch so that everyone can meaningfully contribute and have no one massively outshine the rest. In a campaign with a Druid, a Wizard/Incantantrix and a Cleric/Crusader/Ruby Knight...

Re: Greenbound summoning on Ravenloft?
It depends on your interpretation of how the feat works. If you go with the "imbued with the powers of the forest" sentence, it is a transformation that is applied to a creature, so it would be fine as long as the base creature can be found in the domain. If you assume that the creature ha...

Re: Help for a new campaign? 3.5 or 5e?
I was mostly thinking of PCs, whose abilities are very different. AD&D characters may actually work surprisingly well, at least the single-class ones, as they have their special abilities preset and as 5e assumes the single-classed PC as the norm (and comes with severe trade-offs for any multi-c...

Re: Help for a new campaign? 3.5 or 5e?
Both are fine games. I am more partial to 5e lately, although 3.5 is still unparalleled in the amount of available crunch and the possibilities if min-maxing and customizing. I wouldn't recommend to convert a running game from 3.5 to 5e. The paradigms are much too different, especially in the need o...

According to EtCR Markovia was a woman.

Re: The Abbot of St Markovia (Spoilers for CoS)
St Markovia was AFAIK first mentioned in 3.5 Expedition to Castle Ravenloft (p. 119, 182, 216). This has also some text on her life biography, but with the very very loose connection of that adventure to the campaign setting it's up to you how much of that is true and relevant for your game.

Re: Sorcerers for 2nd edition
One last quick one, how does a sorcerer 'get' new spells? Are they randomly determined or do they 'want it' when they level up? As someone who has played sorcerers and other spontanzous spellcasters in 3.5, you will definitively let your players handpick their spells. The number of spells is sharpl...

Re: Collodi, aka Odiare Reload
I like this remake of Odiare. It certainly gives the domain much greater possibilities and variety then re-playing "The Created" for the umpteenth time or one-shot mixtures of "Escape from L.A." and the second half of "Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome". But I am generally a...

Re: [Savage Worlds] Ravenloft
FYI I am tooling up a one-shot of SW Ravenloft, utilizing the classic Night of the Walking Dead that should especially profit off SW with its hordes of zombies and the allied extras like the constable and the priest that usually fall by the wayside in the more management-intensive D&D. On thing ...

If you know in which maps the level drainers horde up, keep your best combat spells ready before opening any doors, turning any corners or entering through any transition areas in those maps and always keep Negative Plane Protection active on the front row, the level drain it is manageable in the ov...

Re: Old Ravenloft Computer Games
I can only speal of Strahd's Possession (although Stone Prophet is very similar). It uses the same engine as Eye of the Beholder / Menzoberanzan if you have any experience with it. It was a short-ived real-time 3D action RPG engine, one that was ultimately ditched when BG came out and Diablo popular...
