Re: Optional rule: Specific hosts for calling spells
I have to say I like this concept. I'm happy to hear that :) In my thoughts, a True Innocent would be a shoo-in for an angelic host. I suppose if one wanted to go for things like Carrie or Damien they could also be a shoo-in for demonic possession, though having that as a rule seems very... weird. ...

Optional rule: Specific hosts for calling spells
I'm a little unsatisfied by how Calling spells ( planar ally, planar binding, gate , etc.) in Ravenloft make it very easy to increase the number of fiends permanently residing in the Demiplane. I like my fiends to be more special and have a tormented backstory more complex than "A 7-th level cl...

Re: Comments/suggestions on Jester's rules (5e)
PS. Horror could work that way IMO. from 0 to 6, like the exhaustion with progressive effects. I could totally see a madness or horrified chart mimicking exhaustion. That might end up being the route I take for madness. I would go for a single exhaustion-like table unifying fear, horror and madness...

Cool! What if the players had some control over the pool... for instance, a player can spend the inspiration to remove a die from the pool, or a player can have some bonus at the cost of adding a die to the pool (so they'll feel guilty later...)

Re: 5e announced!
And in the snipsets given so far, I've already saw something that made me cringe: Umber hulks can burrow through 10 feet of solid rock in one round, leaving a 5' wide, 8' tall tunnel in their wake. I.e. dig a 10' long x5 wide x8 tall tunnel in 6 seconds. That is, in 6 seconds an Umber hulk can dig ...

Re: Questions about Sinkholes of Evil
To further my first question, would it be justified to classify a place as a rank 5 sinkhole if the location was the ruins of a city where the summoning and attempted binding of a demon lord set off a cataclysm that instantaneously disintegrated all of the city's 30 thousand inhabitants and trappin...

Rougue seems super cool, with the ability to half the damage he gets from an attack epr round and sneak attack anybody who is in combat with an ally. Also sneak attack damage is multiplied on crit .
I particularly love how they simplified everything a lot.

Re: How do I go about this situation?
I agree with starfalconkd, keep it simple and don't unnecessarily mess with the characters. They're the player's babies, and no one likes to see mean things happen "just because". Have the Mists pick up and deposit them where they need to be. Actually, if memory serves From the Shadows ac...

Well, we still don't know, there aren't enough rules out to build encounters and adventures yetalhoon wrote: Also, how we make encounters in this game? XP bucket? Common sense? The later will be kinda tough without ANY knowledge of the rules.

Re: Gothic Earth lives again! Here's a new Ravenloft setting
Eastern Europe is BAAAADDD. Russia is even worse.... Lenin started it all in my opinion. I would softly advise against meddling too much modern politics in the setting. Of course being the real world in 2012 a big part of it can't be avoided, but it would be better to keep it as neutral as possible...

Re: The Saw in Ravenloft
Uh, this is cool! let's enter the fray :) Still there are some questions I wonder how people would answer... 1: Would you kill an innocent to save yourself if it was the only way to guarantee that one of you lives? Would you let them kill you? What if both of you are innocent and it is fate that for...
