Re: Martira Bay who's who
This thread about creating new NPCs has a few from Martira Bay: Elgard Connardson (originally from there) by Joel, Anton Broax by Dion. It also has cure's version of The Spider. So it looks like Elgard just says that he's from Martira but that he's lying about it. Broax has definite possibilities a...

Re: Martira Bay who's who
For Hoelgar's backstory may I point you to The Golden Eyed Youth ? It's an interesting new (amnesiac?) NPC wandering and searching for Hoelgar. Thanks for pointing me that way! I loved those cards when I was a kid. I haven't looked at them in forever! I was curious as to why you asked if I knew he ...

Re: Martira Bay who's who
Depending on your timeframe, they may be useful. Oh man. One of the PCs is a bit of a charlatan hawking tinctures and ointments of wondrous quality. He hasn't really had a chance to do his thing yet in game (which is one of the reasons why Martira is on the radar). I foresee a young Beetlefoot maki...

Re: Martira Bay who's who
Was just updating when you posted. Thanks for the links. :) I was not aware of Antonin Madrin, Captain Johnny Beetlefoot or Dr. Manticue! The bit about The Spider was written by a certain Superintendant Bryndan Oleary, so he's added to the list. Also, there's The Thinker locked up in Metus' tower. Y...

Martira Bay who's who
I think I'll be spending significant time in Martira Bay and so am looking to put together a little digest. If you see someone missing, shout them out. In no particular order... Lady Mayor Baroness Karimana Reldkasen Baron Metus, vampire Damon Skragg, captain of the Bountiful and a ghoul lord Watch ...

Re: Which Domains Actually Get Used Frequently? [Semi-Poll]
I haven't run much, but thus far we have been in the Shadowlands Cluster, Lamordia, Darkon and Dementlieu. Depending how the game goes I foresee us either spending a lot of time in Tepest, Nidala and the Shadow Rift or in Martira Bay and up and down the coast of the Sea of Sorrows. Or we may end up ...

Re: Personal Canon
7. Explained the Nightmare Court and gave them a somewhat elaborate backstory. I'm toying with ideas for the Nightmare Court right now. I'm curious to know what you did with them. Care to share? -Likewise, Necropolis is merely an empty, desolate city... most of the time. If you're unlucky, you fall...

Re: Personal Canon
Some big ones - I run Ravenloft with BRP, which changes the assumptions of what a PC can and can't do. Skills and powers are developed independently of each other and gameplay flows differently than it usually does with the various shades of D&D (which, of course, are all different from each oth...

Re: Dragons in Ravenloft
I say isolate the suckers and make them sap the land. Pale slimy wyrm in the marshes of Mordent, poisoning the the wild life and villages around it. Icy drake in the most barren corner of Lamordia where the rays of summer cannot touch the cruel bitter bite of the wind and the uncaring frozen earth. ...

Re: Multiple horror genres in a DnD campaign
What!? That's crazy talk. Dagon is great. It's a solidly constructed B movie that is more effective story telling wise than many big budget films I can think of. The use of rain alone in Dagon's scene design was brilliantly handled and shaped to tone of the film. Most importantly though, the film do...

Re: Variant on a wraith (death knight)
Ringwraith is pretty setting specific and comes with a lot of baggage that's not helpful for Ravenloft. If you did want to follow Tolkien's naming pattern, looking at Barrow Wight and Ring Wraith you could identify an aspect of whatever Vescorian is. Dagger Wraith or Wraith Knight or something. I'm ...

Re: Variant on a wraith (death knight)
Pardon the necromancy here, but I'm totally yoinking Vescorian. Part of my current game involves the PCs being secret agents of Azalin to keep his Kargat in check. I see a nice niche for this Vescorian fellow there.
